How do the badges come off lucy??

Just pull really firmly. But the one's on the side may need a little help from a screwdriver or knife.

Also did you do the centre of the steering wheel? Which eBay shop did you buy from/Size of badge.

Sorry 101 questions but they look super!

Yes i did the steering wheel. I bought the set of 9 alltogether.
They are from http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/ian5718/
And the sizes are:
Bonnet 73mm
Side and boot 82mm
Wheels 65 mm
Steering wheel 45mm

Looks good - I echo Herminator's comment that the clips shouldn't be painted. I was fortunate enough to get some chrome plated ones, but imho they would be better just painted silver or pick up some new ones.

You can pop them off through 108's without removing the wheel so a dab of silver Hammerite once off should be an hours job all round

Grilles look good.

So how dark are oyu tinting. In B'ham we have the cops with meters these days pulling all the cars with tints

I'm not going too dark, erm can't remember what i'm having on the back but it will be 54% on the font. The legal limit is 70% so we will have to see how i get on. I don't think they will look too dark so shouldn't have too muchof a problem.

IIRC it must be 70% light tranmission (and 75% on the windscreen) so if you do 54% it would be illegal, however I read it (either 54% or 46% transmission)??

You'd have to stick to <30% including whatever the car already has. I did my X5 with about 20% and it looks good without the drug dealer appearance.

Lucy,

Just picked up a Z4M Roadster yesterday and have a pretty much identical interior apart from the red trimmings on the dash. :D

Have you got any pics please Phil, I am thinking about doing 20% on mine

Mike,

Just dived out and took 2 snaps of the X5 basking in the English sun.

Taken a couple of angles so you can see that the more it is into the sun the darker it appears, but at 80% translucency it's well legal.

Just realised it's been on nearly 8 years so no complaints about durability (fitted at the dealers pre new delivery)

^^ I like that 20% tint - very nice amount of tint . Is that 20% on top of the factory tint, or 20% in total? I've never really considered tinting in any car so far, but that I like but not for the Z4 (I'll be needing a tint on my van as soon as windows are cut into the rear panels, looks daft with plain glass IMO - camper conversion).

That's 20% on top of OEM glass, but it was clear glass so say that was <5% more.

Why I like it is that at night it's still as good as clear, but on the odd sunny or bright days adds to the looks and reduces some glare.

cheers for the photos lucy - its made my mind up to NOT get the cf ones, badges on my wheels were a bit tatty so i think ill just replace with standard blue/white, but the cf does suit a black z though!

I have tints all round, 5% on the rear and 20% in the sides but mine are loads darker than yours. The tints will appear darker on the zed anyway as the windows are smaller than the x5 therefore less light passes through. Ill post some pics if anyones interested?

I didn't realise when the photo was taken Mrs CJ had left the sunroof open. That probably made them look a little lighter anyway by letting a pool of light inside.

In reality I think you need to go to a good installer and get some swatches on the windows to visualise what the end result will look like. Very much a balance between personal choice, day/night vision and legal constraints.

A dark interior will make the tints look darker. I never had a problem with my M5's tints (about 50% sides & rear) with champagne interior - although I think they were done when the car was still new and thus the tints would have been 19 years old.
