Hey Guys I was hoping that maybe you guys and gals could subscribe to my YouTube channel as if I hit 250 then I will eat a ghost chili pepper.

Not to piss on your parade - but typically youtube works in reverse to your suggestion:

1. You create good content
2. Audience rewards you with subscriptions

An example of popular content - the recent video of two girls eating a carolina reaper chilli.

Wouldn't necessarily suggest this unless you're confident your heart is free of troubles.
 
No mate I completely understand and agree with you however unless you do a prank video or something shocking you get no views. The best way to describe it as snowball effect you only get views or subscribers if your video already has a large amount of views as YouTube are suggests it to Youtuber its already been popular.

Just gotta make great content - and keep doing it!

It presumably works eventually. Using other youtubers to propel you also seems to be a factor (in the motoring youtube world, those connected to the bigger youtubers seem to easily spin off a percentage of their subscriber base into their own chans).
