My yearly Scotland visit

As per the title started last January after buying my z4 me and the new wife headed up to nw Scotland melfort where we had our honeymoon it was so relaxing with views to die for.So this year fancied a change so looked around and found a great spot the island of Seil so with 7 nights of relaxation ect will also come the day time driving and believe me the roads and views are spectacular really can’t wait.So can anyone give any pearls of places to visit whilst on our visit and exciting roads to try out PLEASE PLEASE DONT SNOW snow socks packed just in case View attachment 3

I know that neck of the woods quite well. Seil Island access is over a narrow stone bridge nick named the 'Bridge over the Atlantic'. Your a stones throw from Oban, plenty to see and do here...especially Oban Distillery
Ancient gravestones at Kilmartin and nearby Dalriada hillfort...very atmospheric.
Also close to Ben Cruachan Hydro Electric Station and can take a trip deep under the mountain. Lochgilphead, Inveraray, Loch Fyne kippers, The Rest and Be Thankful hill climb. Also you can visit Mull of Kintyre. I would go across onto Jura and Islay and visit all the distilleries and do some 'sampling'

Having stayed in Scotland all my life I find it quite embarrassing when people ask about where to go as when things are on your doorstep you take them for granted and dont think about how good they are and never know what to suggest to people.
Not a million miles away from you is the Crinan Canal which is something to see and if I was travelling to Seil Island I would go via Arrochar, Inveraray, Lochgilphead, bypassing the road to Crinan on the way to Seil Island. A much quieter road than heading the A82 and A85 to Oban.

I don't know that area, in fact I've only been up there twice but plan to go a third time later in the year.

A wee trip out on the Seafari ribs might be good but it'll be blooming freezing if they're running at all. As previously, you're not far from Oban so that's worth a day out, nice road from Seil up to Oban too, lots of interesting bends but it'll be frosty so be careful. Head down the other way to Crinan and then on to Tayvallich, the Inn there is very nice for a meal, http://www.tayvallichinn.com

You could nip over to Mull from Oban and visit Tobermory, or there used to be a nice tour from Oban to Mull then over to Iona, well worth a day out if the weather is nice, looks like it's going to be OK for the next couple of days at least.

The other option is to head on up further north past Oban, head over to Ballachulish and do the Loch Leven loop, the Scotsburgring. I probably wouldn't given the way the weather is today, but you might be braver than me!

I think I’ll add this to my must visit list, the pics are lovely and the whiskey isles are already on the list, Bowmore here we come

When are you back? Call by Wigan, I'll clean it....I clean anything on or near my drive...

If you are up there for any amount of time, go to Achmelvich beach, Old Shoremore beach and Durness, they are a good way up the West Coast though.

Loved my wee trip on the Corran Ferry in the summer, fantastic drive to Ardnamurchan.
Probably the best day out I've had in the Zed!

Had a great time in Scotland looking forward to my next visit some lovely roads and some pretty destroyed roads pot holes as big as a house but all in all fantastic time.Few photos of our delayed drive home due to conditions
