My theory on not waving at other Z4's

My theory on why other z4 drivers don't wave or even acknowledge each other.
I think it's like women who go to a party and see another woman in the same dress. They try and avoid each, not even making eye contact.

Two years of driving my z4 and not even a wave or a nod! Maybe it's just miserable southerners! :)

You should be having too much fun :driving: to notice unless the other Zeds got in the way, then I don't think waving would be the correct reaction...

E85 driver gave me 3 flashes the other day, took me by surprise as i hadn't seen him behind some other on-coming cars, managed to get a flash in and a thumbs up.

Usually get a wave from other Zeds, with the roof down. 8) :D Roof up they're just another car, so don't get the same reaction. :(

Never had a wave or a flash from another Z any other BMW or any other car for that matter. Was totally different in the 7 when I got flashed all the time and random folk would wave and smile from the side walk or walk up to chat in fuel stations . In fact I had much the same experience in my TVR (when it was on the road and not in the garage ) .There is I beleive a definite perception that BMW drivers in general are up their own arse ,bit like Porsche drivers I guess .

I glanced over at another Zed driver earlier this week to see if he'd acknowledge or wave, but he didn't look in my direction.

Got a few looks, smiles and waves when driving the Mazda MX5 MK1 though. None from MK2 or MK3 owners - just MK1. I think a lot of MK1 owners probably feel they're in a niche club/community since it's quite an old car now.

Not had a single acknowledgement from any Z drivers up here in Lancs.

It sure is a rare car in N.Ireland as I have only see two other E85s in six months! None of us waved or flashed (raincoat included) 8)

Coming from biking for over 20 years and most bikers acknowledge you.
I get the occasional hand gesture from white vans, although not the acknowledgement i was after!

Bikers often give me a nod in the zed. I think the attitude is what catches their eye. I always warn them of the local speed copper and maybe I have become an honorary fruitloop?

This makes sense, I'll monitor this now as I think your spot on 8)

I'll only wave to other ///M owners, owning an ///M myself I don't see why i'd bother with anything else. (of course this is an Adamski baiting post).

In seriousness, I think that as prices become ever cheaper more non-enthusiast owners are buying Z4s, They are the ones unlikely to wave surely?

Most enthusiasts would wave. Classic mini owners for example, always wave....but then Joe Public won't be buying a classic mini.

Most look and acknowledge in some shape or form. Had a roadster sat in traffic behind me once, the male passenger was explaining to the female driver about how the roof lines are so sexy just by the motion of he's hands :o :D

Roof up they are called the coupe

I get a wave (more often a nod though) from fellow 911s though - caught me off guard a few times as I was not expecting it.

That's simply because of the pop up headlights when you flash someone ,which is very compelling
