My Tamiya BMW Z4 M Updated with Pics and Video on 1st page

Yup... I think you got it! :thumbsup: Bulb 4 also doubles as your secondary brakelight. Oh, BTW the bulb 11 (led top light) should also be on too, if your headlights are on.

Thats soooo good. I built a Tamiya buggy over Xmas (bought as a present for my younger cousin), and had a great time racing it around the local park.

Made me really want another one (I had an old Manta Ray when I was 14 or so). Had a look at the Z4M kit - those pics just make me want to do get one even more! lol Love the black paint job btw!

^ yup, patterened it with my z4 roadster.

the coupe is the closest thing to my z4 roadster.

anyway wait till you run one of these with the leds on, and the led control unit!!

will post a video soon!

has brake lights, park light, headlight, brights, reverse light, signal supposed to be but mine is still lacking signal bulbs.

the tamiya has very good scale for the z4m!

Nice wheels, BTW :thumbsup:

sorry for the delay will post it this week.

i used everything to build the chassis but didn't put the original rims and tires included in the kit, also the spoiler i didn't paint and put in the body.

also, added 5 more led bulb set since the kit only contains 2 sets.

the wheels are the closest i could find that resembles the M coupe's wheels :) its from a tamiya enzo ferrari hehe

Here are the updated pics:

Difference...

I cut the front spoiler, cut the body posts, finally added the turn signal led functions!!!

Let me know if it looks better now!

Soon the video of all the led function: headlight, tail light, brake light, reverse light, hazard light, turn signals, evening and night lights.

And after that the video of the car running in front of my house :)

Very nice indeed. I am very impressed with the quality of the finish. I did a lot of model building in my youth (mostly airplanes and military vehicles), so I know how hard it is to get a decent finish (every blemish is magnified a thousand fold). What did you use to paint it?

actually the regular red spray paint can from tamiya is nice, the secret is to finish the whole can to get that darker red color. make sure to spray evenly though since under the sun light you can see the uneveness of the spray.

if i have time, the next body i paint will include the bumper lights on the side and turn signals in the side roundels.

i need to use two tlu01 light units however.

Well here's mine, Of course I had to make a small version of my car....

Although I am running the Tamiya Body;
My Drivetrain and chassis is a Traxxas brand Nitro 4-tec, 3.3cc. w/2-speed transmission, out of the box it hits 70mph, 0-60 2.6s.;

http://www.traxxas.com/products/nitro/n4tec33/trx_n4tec33.htm

I've placed larger diameter and width wheels to get a few more mph out of it as well as not go airborne due to bumps in the road.
Has a 4mm wider track in the rear.

Tried RWD like our real cars, but it just over powers it and does donuts, its running 4wd belt driven with 2 limited slip diffs.

Its terribly fast. The tires last about 4 gas tanks.

Pics:

Sorry for the dark images...ENJOY! Nitro RC is actually pretty fun I must say, probably because I'm an engineer.

Love your black coupe. Good job on the lights :thumbsup:. I usually finish with metallic silver after the main paint (unless it's a dark color like black) to give that extra 8) I also use diswashing soap & pads to clean & prep the polycarbonate body.

I'm in to F1's. One BMW & two Ferrari (Schumacher & Barrichello). I might just pick an M coupe :)

A question for the model pros:
I have a 1:18 Z4 MC and I want to modify it to look like my real car. The sticking point, as I see it, is I can't find anyone who sells BBS wheels in 1:18. My real car runs RGRs, but I know RS-GTs exist because I saw them on a European model once. But where did that guy get them? I really don't want to scavage them off an $80 model, which is the only possibility I've turned up so far. Any ideas? I'm not stuck on the RGRs, something very close (like RS-GTs, ASA knockoffs, etc.) would be fine.

just keep on searching ebay or your local hobby store for the rims you want
