My supercharger story

So, as some may know, I was part of the group buy for the Infinitas/GPower supercharger a few months ago. It’s been a bit of a journey, but today, we finally have an MOT!

Here is a brief history of my life for the past few months

Supercharger arrives - super excited
Off to Ross at RBM to have it installed
Install all good (Ross and his team are awesome)
After a little bit of driving, gets a misfire
Back to RBM to check coils, plugs etc - all good, but new plugs installed
Still misfiring
Change MAF
Still misfiring
MOT due, so off for its inspection (in hope). Fails badly on emissions
Decide it must be a map issue - Inifintas swear it isn’t, but aren’t much help TBH
Contact Josh at Severn Tuning. Long chat, decide to upgrade injectors ahead of custom map
Injectors arrive - some install challenges but go in ok
New map from Severn Tuning - still running rich and very smoky
Replaced pre cat o2 sensors, start thinking about new cat…
Lots of diagnostics runs/tests and some head scratching with Josh
Josh works his magic, 2nd new map installed
Seems to be running ok so…
… off for MOT - gets a perfect emissions test score!
We’re back and legal again!

Now just need to start driving it - have run it around a bit during the process and it feels like it just has so much power on tap and urgency right through the rev range, so looking forward to giving it a proper test.

The injectors were 365cc (stock is around 240) so we should be getting somewhere around 340/350bhp, and at some point I’ll dyno it to find out.

Suffice to say, after a long 3 months working through the issues and spending way more money than originally planned, I’m a happy man. Huge thanks to Josh at Severn Tuning and Ross at RBM, recommend both highly.

Off to the Alps in July for a 6 day road trip including Furka, Stelvio and Grossglocker :-) to play with all that power, and my new LSD.

Great news that you have hopefully got it all sorted . That drive through the Alps will definitely give it a good test . Don`t forget to take some photos .

Good to know you finally got there.

340 bhp and an LSD work pretty well in a Z4!

Awesome write-up, thanks for sharing. Keep those experiences coming, they’re extremely valuable to dreamers such as myself :D

Good result, and glad it got sorted.
Good work by Rbm and Severn tuning by the sounds of it.
Enjoy :driving:

I just wish someone with an M would post from the group buy,on their installs.

I was lucky enough to see this car in the metal today. What a beast! The supercharger kit seems like a quality piece of engineering and works very effectively
Always good to see another forum enthusiast too.

I know my standard kit with uprated injector and map was 330bhp but thats running 6psi, i have changed pulley from 3.6” to 3.25”. Now running 9-10psi boost and way faster

Was thinking about a smaller pulley. Did you remap it afterwards?
