My supercharger has left the US of A!

Just had a whatsapp from my Great Aunt - They had no issues with the "strange" items in their hold luggage, and are enroute to the Uk now..

The strange items in question being the components of my VF Engineering centrifugal supercharger kit :)

Ordered it from the US site and had it delivered to them.. Cost was approx £3400 after conversion, which compares VERY favorably to the £5538 that I was quoted by Regal...

CANNOT wait to get my hands on this bad boy - Just hope they get through UK customs ok...

Amazed that wasn't questioned at x-ray check in :o
Sounds like a great mod to your Zed Mike :driving:

So was I Colin, but their "story" if questioned was they had removed it from one of their own cars, and were giving to me as a gift...

But no questions asked.. Gonna be an anxious 8hrs now...

I believe from the messages that two of their cases have been opened for "routine examination" but nothing further mentioned.. Probably when they realised it wasn't a bomb..

it'll still be slower than our 6 pot dervs i reckon ;)

I think not.. Whilst you are spinning rubber, my LSD will be getting the traction it needs... ALTHOUGH I do think it may still struggle against my X5 40d after the remp.. 700mn/377bhp is a lot of motive force..

Whoaaa!! This pic on their website shows the supercharger fitted to an M54 WITH hydraulic steering?? I was under the impression that you couldn't have a PAS pump AND the supercharger. This is the only reason I haven't ditched the crappy electric PAS on my car...

If it's possible then I'm going hydraulic at the same time - BONUS!!!!

Jeez, gearbox out, supercharger to fit AND now a PAS conversion... Oh and bumpers to be painted and facelift rear end conversion.. Better get a sleeping bag at The Zed Shed!

Mike, will it matter that the photo shows the kit in what looks like a 3 series engine bay?

Don't think so, as I was under the impression that the SC and PAS pump couldn't co-exist, according to the (lack of) info I could find, that pic shows that they can on an M54..

It can be done. I have nearly all the kit. The tank can't go in the usual spot and thus needs longer piping. I'm no hydraulic engineer and have no idea on the impact it'll have, esp if they are wider.

Like I said when I came down Mike, they do these kits for the E46 with the same engine and hydraulic pump, you'll just need a longer belt than will come with the Z4 kit. I'm sure if.you email the manufacturer they'll have some info on belt length for the E46 kit

Arguably none, after all the only high pressure line is the feed from the pump to the rack.

For what it's worth I'm led to believe they are 16mm ID anyway, but I'm sure Mike can check that easily and get some replacement ordered up.

She sounds like she’s truly a great Aunt - can she bring me a present from the USA too? :D
