New bmw performance gearknob arrived tonight - I like it. Very short throw and feels weighty. Just need an alcantara gaiter to match

I had one of these on my 1 Series and loved it! The only thing that stopped me getting one for the Z was I was unable to find (I looked everywhere) an alcantara gaiter - if you do ever find one, please let me know!!

Nice mods BTW so far. I'd recommend doing something with the back box (maybe the DLV mod) as the over run sound is addictive. I've LongLife Stainless Steel back box and love it! :driving:

Yep exhaust box mod is on the list - just means a long trip up the m5/6!

The new knob really makes it feel like a sports car - similar in look and feel to the s2000.

I’ve seen this for the gaiter? https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F351001439144

Cracking find! Not 100% on the stitching colour though...

Reading the listing it does say you can have the stitching in any colour you like

strut brace

Which one would you recommend ?
(I also have a pre face 3L m54)

Nice thread OP.
Both bits of sound gen foam out are a bit much with the roof up. But fine (better imo) with the roof down.

I've got a cosmo racing aluminium 3 piece strut brace on mine. It does the job, just wish it waa black, so as not to be so bling bling.

That looks great. Did it clear the bonnet alarm sensor ok?

Yes. Unlike the ultra racing 3 point brace, this one is 3 separate parts and sits on the oem points, exactly how the standard black braces do.

Unsure whether it's just my mind, but the front end definitely feels better with it fitted. I removed it for a while whilst having a wheel alignment done and the front end felt a lot more boat like without it.

Hi there, can you let me know where you got the knob from? I looked it up but often it states that it's not suitable for the Z4?

Yea I got it from harry fairburn (spelling?!) BMW via eBay. It will 100% fit a z4 - all the knob fittings across the range old and new are exactly the same!

First decent evening of the year so decided to give her a bath. Amazed how well silver comes up with little more than decent shampoo and a go over with some quick detailer

You’ll have to excuse the mark in front of the stalk - i got a bit carried away with the sanding part of the dremel - have since managed to sand and paint it out but haven’t taken a picture. The install was actuallly very simple using all the guides on this forum.

Nice work. This is a must for any Z4 owner who likes clean cars.

I found all sorts of rubbish underneath my seats. McDonalds chips, money, you name it

Up to warwick on Friday with work and averaged 43mpg! Not bad from a 3 ltr! Having six gears makes a real difference - I was driving between 60-70 the whole journey as busy rush hour. 2_B5_C7_ED5-8633-4564-_B995-_D8_F27_D58_B341.jpg
