so for about 2 weeks, it would either work fine or not at all, when it didn't work if I turned the engine off and on again, it would work again until 1 day it go stuck down and hasn't worked since...

I'm assuming its the motor that's gone although in the lead up, it was never struggling?

anyway, can someone just confirm that its most likely the motor and if so the required part number for my car (I've seen conflicting numbers on Real OEM and some of them are quite a bit more expensive than others...)

also if someone knows a ball park price and where's best to obtain one that's great...

finally: I'm sure I saw somewhere that people relocate the the boot but I can't find any information on this. Anyone else know more?

Firstly, you can raise & lower it manually... just check the manual where the release cable is.

Secondly, doesn't hurt to ask a dealer for their opinion... you don't have to accept their price but at least they will give you an indication what's wrong & price before proceeding further. Could just say you're thinking of a PX for another car & was wondering if it's cost effective to get this done before you chop it in... or leave 'as is'

the manual release has seized so putting up and down isnt so easy

only had the car 5 months so its getting fixed, and i will be doing it myself since money is tight (spent it all on the car)

I'm currently pursuing BMW for the cost of the part on my 2005 Z4 after the motor failed, will let you know how I get on! My letter is written, just need to call them tomorrow as they no longer list a snail mail address so I want to check it will be responded to!

(Before anyone says, yes they have an e-mail form, but it's 500 characters max and my letter is a literary masterpiece lol)

Liam-O,

Quick search will find all that you need! :poke:

OEM is the only way to go - Jo at Sopers in Lincoln will possibly give you the best deal on parts with quick delivery and Shipkiller has done an excellent thread on how to do it yourself.
