Just wondering how many run their Z4 as a second car? At the moment it's my only car and I enjoy every drive, it's a fun commuter and weekend car all in one.

I don't do a lot of miles, less than 10k a year. I am tempted to get another car, to spread the miles, that is as fun to drive but offers more carrying capacity should I want to throw a bicycle in the back or shift some furniture/ junk around, or take more than one friend on a trip!

here are some ideas:
Over the years I always wanted a Supra or even a Soarer but these are getting on a bit now and have gone up in value.

I think a 996 911 would be fantastic, but slightly over budget, and I'm guessing it wouldn't fit a bike in the back!

I was looking at e9x 335i, preferably the lower tax band N55 (2008 or 2009 onwards I think). Other cheaper cars with similar power that have tempted me are the range of T5 engined Volvos, or a Mercedes with a 5.0 V8. I realise these may feel a bit on the heavy side compared to the Z. I am quite into lightweight cars.

Mines a second car - my daily is a RenaultSport Megane 175:

My requirement is economical (diesel) and be able to fit my dogs in the back.

Bit stupid having a 2 door and then a 3-door for "practicality" - replacement likely to be an E91 330d.

If you want petrol - what about an Audi S4 B8 avant?

My Z4 is a 2nd car as well.

My daily is a manual E90 330i (another N52 engine)!

I kid myself it's practical because it has the folding rear seat option.

Mines a Mazda2. 1.6 sport. Quicker down many a local C road than an ///MR and easier to squeeze into a parking space on the high street.

The roof doesn't go down though. :o

The other car is a Jaguar XF 3.0D and the other other car is a Daihatsu Terios which we use for running about locally and when the weather gets dodgy as is sometimes the case here in the Pennines.

Now that I work from home I bought this a couple of years ago to zip up and down to the shops etc. Zero road tax, peanuts to insure, keyless entry, push button start and runs on thimble of fuel... brilliant little car, and for those that feel that its not exotic enough there is an Aston Martin version! The Z lives in the garage and only comes out when the weather is nice, looking to get a X5 next to add to the fleet.

To coincide with a house move and selling the 3.0si last year, I purchased a c1 for the princely sum of a grand - £18 a year to tax, peanuts to insure etc so freed up a load of cash to.... Err.... Move house.... And buy the M before actually moving in

I really didn't think having a daily would work that well, but it's been great to be honest - no worries about salt and extra miles/wear and tear on the M, and I can now park the c1 near the front door of the supermarket without a care in the world

Out second car which is the wife's daily driver is a VW Polo GTI, a cracking little hot hatch with it's 1.8i turbo engine and 192bhp :D 20190413_154530.jpg

My daily is a lovely remapped 330d, here it is touring the NC500. You might have thought the zed would be the perfect tool for the job, but the quieter, faster and more economical 330d was spot on.

My daily is a 335D Touring X-drive. Sadly I have no pictures of it.
Whilst it doesn't give half the fun factor of my Z, it is an awesome machine in it's own right.
Back road journeys to work in a high speed leather armchair are so much easier.
Catch up to another car, think 'I wonder if I can overtake here..........oh! I have already :)'

308GTI company car as a daily, with Z4MC for the nice weekends and evenings.
Not been out for 3 weeks with the crappy weather. :(

Nice thread 8)
At present I daily a work vehicle. But I'm going to revert back to our Mini R50 soon.
Zed is my garage queen... minus the garage!

I drive a Toyota RAV4 for work - reliable, good load space, good seating position etc. Our marketing dept have decided that a Mini Countryman PHEV will somehow signal a better image regardless of any possible shortcomings, so it should be amusing to see how they work for us... or not :?

For now, my other car is a 2016 F21 M135i manual in white. There's a whole thread on what it might become, though...

My main daily is an E82 123d, plenty powerful enough, will remap well, and is great on the motorway.

The Polo looks enormous when compared with the Zed!

My Z is a hobby car. I have a 2010 Mazda 6 Sport diesel Estate which I have had a long time and done a fair few miles in. I will keep it unitil it falls apart as it is great for moving my Uni children and all their kit, the dog and trips to the dump etc. I still looks presentable when it gets cleaned up by me. Wife has a little Peugeot 208 1.2 but with 110bhp. It is quite surprising tbh. Has plenty of go for a small engine and keeps up with traffic on the motorway with nae bother. I don't commute so my Z is a total extravagance. Mazda6.jpg

Our other car is a Mazda CX 5 GT Satnav +.2.0 petrol. The car is loaded with tech and is good to drive. If it has a fault it's a lack of low down torque. On steepish climbs you have to go down the box and keep the revs above 3500 rpm.
