My old car for sale

Its fate Stuart....
Time to trade in that dodgy //M and get yourself back in to a decent Z4 again....

It is funny to think that the old car is worth more than the new one, yes.

The bought of swapping back and fitting a limited slip diff had crossed my mind, but I saw the state the last owner let it get into. Bing and I saw her at the Silverstone Classic and she was in a real state. The paintwork was ruined with holograms where some amateur had take a rotary polisher to her, one of the rear parking sensors was missing and a few other bits. I was really sad to see the mess she was in.

On the plus side, he'd had a new roof motor and steering wheel slip rings replaced under warranty. If Sytners have sorted the paint she'll make a good buy. Shame about the red calipers, which are a bit marmite in my opinion.

There's always the sub-10k mile RS that Sytner's have in stock - another 'Oooh Shiney!' car from a collection for you to pile the miles on

Makes you wonder as instead of Alpina Blue Metallic they have the paint colour listed as 'Solid Blue - Light Flat' so perhaps they've sidestepped the hologram issue by wet sanding and then forgot to polish.... :?

And, from the pics, it's still 'S'-less....

I spotted the S badge too. That would be a negotiation point for me as it was a £75 part when I bought her. It's supposed to be an Alpina Blue car. They guy that bought it from Sytners after my ownership contacted me as he had been looking for that colour. I noticed they've taken the stripes and lettering off the spoiler. If the paint really is semi flat it's a terrible shame. She had very minor swirls when I handed her over, but was otherwise immaculate.

I would love to know what they would "offer" you for the M in exchange :)

I bet they offer about 12k for the M, and you would have to add £6.5K to get the Alpina back

Not quite, if I put it up for sale here for what they offered I'd have people biting my hand off though.

At this rate Lovetts are going to have to buy it anyway.

Sytners Coventry called me trying to get me to move and offered me an insulting amount. I told him to do one

Probably a reasonable offer for a non-runner though !

Seriously, it's an interesting arguement as to what the //M will be worth in 3 years time compared to the RS.
If you had happy times with it, there must be a little niggling thought in the back of your mind, knowing its sat there looking for an owner ?

The Alpina is rarer, so it's fair to guess that it will be worth more. I wrote a comparison post when I changed, the M is more of an "immediate" sports car where in my opinion, the Alpina was more a fast tourer in its behaviour

As I also said at the time, if I had the space I'd have kept it. No sense looking back though, the RS is a special car and I'm glad I owned one.
