My number plate keeps falling off!!!!

Right - im getting narked off at my number plate either comming loose or dropping off overnight - its the front one.

ive tried various types of sticky pad and can only assume its not sticking either becuase of the outside temperature or becuase of the curvature of the bumper.

i dont want to screw it on - so any other ideas ?

I was thinking the silicone gun!!!

Done that and got the tshit - im off to buy a mig welder!

3M VHB (Verh High Bond) tape - BUT clean both surfaces with a med wipe or similar before application and sticking. Use it on my off road Jeep and if it holds the plates on that it should do for a Z4.

in the past i have always used sticky tape to fasten number plates to cars, i hate the screws, i have never had 1 fall off, its actually been hard to remove them when i have sold the cars

the zed is a different object though, i put it down to the curve, mine fell off almost over night so i gave it up as a bad job

I'm using bog standard double-sided sticky pad type stuff. Bought a roll of it from Homebase, probably Sellotape or 3M branded. Clean both surfaces with white spirit or the like, heat the surfaces up a bit with a hairdrier, then stick it on. Has worked for me on every car so far including ones with more curvature than the front Z4 plate.

Mines stuck on the back but i use the screws on the front due to the curve.

You could try using the number plate surround i have on the back on the front that way it wont fall of but the surround may not bend that much.

Have thought about doing this myself but may look a bit bulky on the front end

The tape didn't work for me but got some heavy duty Velcro from Tesco and it has done the job perfectly!

a little side track, but isn't it a little risky not using the screw in terms of someone nicking your number plate and using it, etc?

The only method of making it secure would be to remove it each night yourself

Screws (even the 'security' ones) can be removed with the correct tools, rivets can be drilled out very quickly with a small dremmel tool, etc.

I tried to fit my front one just with the sticky pads, but it too kept popping off, so it now has 2 screws.
