My new Z4

2009 23Idrive 18,000 miles from new. One previous owner before me. Full Synter service history
It's still sitting on it's original tyres! :) :) :) :)
Ride really hard - even on the 17 inch wheels. Will have to put new tyres on. Don't know how it has got through an MOT
test with 15 year old tyres!

wow, that must be a garage queen! that is lovely and yes new tyres are a must.

I must say that I was not a big fan of the e89 but lately I started to like how they look. Must be the age or something

Anyway, looks like a nice example, get the tyres changed and enjoy

Congratulations - that's a lovely colour combination.

beauty, new tyres and away you go. if they are original i assume they are run flats, that will explain the noise, change for non RF and away you go.

What a great find - yes new non run flat tyres a must.
Some might be tempted to change the wheels to 19" with LP tyres but I think those look good and with the state of UK roads you need less wheel and more tyre!!!

Thanks everyone. I love it. Drove it home from Lichfield and took the keys to bed with me!
That was after parking the wife's car across the front of the zed to stop it escaping during the night!
I'm doing what all new owners do - nervously checking all the common sources of problems but fingers crossed - none have
turned up yet! (God, I hope I don't regret saying that)
On my E85 I ditched the 17inch run-flats and fitted normal tyres but didn't notice that much difference. Still undecided about
what tyres to fit but I deffo want to retain the 17 inch wheels - I want a comfortable drive!

I wonder if the difference between run-flat and normal is more pronounced on the bigger wheels? Is there any evidence for this?

I had the same alloys on my 3.0l E89 and after the first winter with the car I ditched the Bridgestone's for winter tyres and bought a set of BBS 18" (225/40 R18) Goodyear Eagle F1's for and the comfort and noise was about the same, turn in was slightly worse so increased the pressures on the front to compensate.

I have the same combo as SARS. 18 inch style 293 with Goodyear Eagle F1 non runflat and the ride is acceptable. Much better than 19s and non runflats. Road noise on mine is low actually. Mine is a 2009 35i and has original no adaptive suspension and so probably is a little worn, but can be surprisingly comfortable over things like sleeping policemen / traffic calming although can feel as though it’s too firm sometimes and sometimes slightly floaty. Buts it’s certainly much more comfortable than the E85/6 or E90 MSport setup.

I had 19" with runflats. 18" with normal tyres is a transformation. My car is still very controlled,
but much more comfortable and much better with potholes and other surface defects.
