My new motor

Thankfully its just a daily and not replacing the Z

Anyway as of next Monday I am starting upon a new career path which will see my racking up allot of miles back and forth to Norfolk for 14 weeks and then maybe some commuting after that, obviously I don't want to destroy my Z so I have invested in another little car.

Anyway here she is a 2002 318ti SE, 65k, FSH and properly tidy compared to most of the other crap I have been looking at in a budget price range.

Just shopping around for insurance today, :headbang:

I always thought they were pretty ugly tbh ha but I wanted something comfortable and reliable and I always liked driving the e46's I had.

This was just a tidy tidy car with nothing to put right or fix, I got it down to £1800 in the end which was slightly over what I wanted to spend but the cars I were viewing prior were just so terrible.

I have always thought of them as being a little quirky and it looks like you have got hold of a cracking example there for the cash, that should make a lovely motor to commute it I reckon. :)

Just the ticket for racking up a few commuting miles, whist the Zed rests, ready for the weekend.

If I see you flying around in Norfolk I'll give you a flash in my zed.

Ha please do :) you never know I may even run the Z up one week for a giggle ill be based in Bircham Newton

Thanks guys i am chuffed I got it all sorted and have a decent car to boot. I saw the worst diesel A3 while looking and that sold for £1300 it was hanging and drove like a bag of spanners! so happy with her

Had an E46 compact a few years ago now, good little run around. I had the 316ti se and it was a little slow on pickup and not as good on fuel as it said on paper. Then again I was comparing it with the zed..

Very reliable, only had to replace the tyres due to age (cracked sidewalls). At 99k the clutch was starting to get a little sticky but it was a bargain for £1800, sold it a year later for £1650 with only having paid out for tyres and a new battery..

Expect the rear wiper to give up the ghost if it hasn't already. Other than that, they're fairly solidly built cars that are usually cheaper than the standard E46 equivalent

Thanks everyone I think I made a good choice had a good drive in it tonight, no knocks, squeaks or strange noises and a very comfortable nippy drive I think I made a good call sticking with BMW. Mum even wants it after I'm dove with it ha :D

I called round for insurance alllllll bloody day had some shocking quotes including £1400 for the compact alone, managed to get both cars done fully comp for £1110 I'm pretty happy with that

Yes I dont know why the insurance was so high on these. Granted I was only 27 when I had mine but still it was always ridiculous.

One other issue I had with mine was the boot release button stopped working but I just used the key

Why call round, did the comparison sites not offer any assistance?

I can't stand calling around, so bloody frustrating.

Always a great bargain car in my eyes. Sold my 325ti just before buying the MR.
Now have 1.8 mundano LX for daily duties :(
