I can't see this obsession with number plates. It's not as if you see the damn thing when you are driving along. All you do is risk an MOT fail or Plod deciding to pull you. Not worth the risk IMHO.

I was done for my numberplate last week - although mine was cheekily mis spaced as;

£60 fine - no points.
I asked which part of the plate was illegal and the reply was 'all of it, it's from the internet'.
I knew there was a risk, so my own fault..glad there were no points though!

Not an MOT fail in your case. Clear,correctly spaced,fluorescent complete borders,visible from 20 metres. Plates correct in font, size & layout will carry the Bsi 145 D (?) mark on the plate however this is not an MOT requirement,neither is it a requirement to measure the letters to ensure they conform to MOT requirement,ridiculous as it seems. If it looks ok,as yours does,it won't be a problem. The good thing in Cyprus is that as long you have a readable plate you are legal. I had a much smaller front and rear plate on my MX5 and had not issues at all during the 4 years that I owned the car.

Don't do a proper illegal plate, as that will just get you fines and points like no one's business, (actually are better off without one), but ben's plate (what I've always done on Clio's etc) is very technically illegal (as there is a requirement for the amount of space from the letter to the edge of the plate), but on the 0.00001% chance you'd ever get pulled on that, you could claim ignorance and walk away scott free.
