Yes I did
Full BMW History , I was waiting in the wings to go for this one , second on the list , I was waiting for call on Friday to say you didn’t turn up :D
Sat in the car ,engine warm ,driving gloves on ready to race to Blackpool
You have got a bargain , best colour combo
He did say someone else had been in touch.. you could have beat me too it too, i dithered over it for about 10 days hoping the right 3.0 would turn up before deciding to give up and go for it :D

I seen it on gumtree only been on 3 days
He told me someone was coming to view and I know how difficult travelling is mid week with work commitments so asked him to get back to me Did not want to jump in on someone else too much of a gentleman
He did say first come first served though :D

The search goes on :headbang:

Good luck with your search.. there are bags of 23i about so shouldn't be too long

Looks great. I have had the 2.3 in the past and on today’s roads it is more than enough to enjoy your open top motoring. Of course it has the the lovely sound of the straight six too. I am sure you will enjoy it.

In for map and cdv delete now..pity its pissing down and I'm on new tyres and I won't be able to properly test it on the run home

Ha :D Actually just back from a run out, the remap has made a really positive impact, the engine pulls stronger from lower in the rev range, the car feels noticibly quicker in the low\midrange 4th and 5th gear roll ons from 50/60 are much punchier, previously pick up was quite slow at around 2-3000 revs but is now picking up much quicker lower in the rev range. £225 very well spent imho

Who was that with Steve and is it enough to make you reconsider going for the 3.0?

It would have been nice to have a before n after dyno run to add to our body of knowledge....but understand the price/logistics against known history may have proven non cost effective...

Was with a local garage I contacted direct rather than through the Quantum site, there's a map on the website with your nearest dealers flagged, there's hundreds of franchises throughout the country. Yes I'd reconsider jumping into a 3.0 now as I'm very happy with this car but I'd still like to test one as well as the turbo range.
Through the midrange it doesn't feel any slower than my old 3.0si just a tad slower off the mark from a standstill but on the move if you keep it in the power its got plenty of poke...its not a night and day difference like you would get in a turbo car but its very noticable improvement. I'm certainly in no rush to change as this car has my perfect colour combo, low mileage, great condition, great service history etc, it would take something pretty special to prise me out right now
With a money back guarantee there really is nothing to lose trying it out

Well there’s a bloody turn up for the books.

Out of nosiness I did this thinking as usual the closest would be 80//100 miles and 2 hours away - well theres one 2 miles from my house that is just a run of the mill servicing garage that’s listed. I know the owners son has just recently returned to work with him so it must be the boy that’s doing them.

The site is quoting £249 - did the garage give you a cheaper price by going direct?

I’m seriously thinking about changing mine soon but I wonder what I’m going to spend the rest of the day trying to resist now when it’s so close :headbang: :headbang:

Funny enough I also checked to see where the nearest dealer was... the temptation :poke:

temptation

I know, but bloody hell, WTF are the chances of there being this available in a wee village with 2000 people in it. :headbang:

I’d just talked myself into not spending another penny after my springs are replaced as a pleasant unexpected change In circumstances will allow me to get into either a late 30i or a 35i/35iS

I was leaning towards the 30i with its history of fewer anticipated issues but the temptation, and itch, to go for a low mile 35 of some description is growing daily. My budget very fortunately would allow me to get into most that have been advertised on here recently.

The VO that Papa_Zee bought ticked all boxes but my ability to buy happened after that.

I will hold out for the right colour/spec etc but that now has me straight back to thinking this remap is still worth it even in the short term........... where’s my phone

Does your local one have a rolling road to check before and afters along with tweaking the map as well?
As far as I know Autotech in Port Glasgow do Quantum remaps and also have a rolling road. Not too far from you by ferry.

That’s what I’m trying to work out if they have one or not without actually contacting them. It’s not a garage I’d normally use because I’ve a mate that owns a garage so I put all my stuff there.

I saw the one in Port Glasgow and would need to use the ferry because the Rest is still closed but tbh that would probably be enough to put me off between the travel/cost/hassle and hopefully changing the car at some point soon when the right one appears.

It was more appealing with it being so close.
