My near miss caught on dash cam

I think we need a dedicated near miss thread purely of members of Dash Cam videos, just like the photo Comp thread, possibly with comments on another thread ?

Sounds like a good idea especially with the number of members having dash cams fitted.

Not a nice way to enjoy your first ride out in the Zed with all it's new bits Nick. :o

Still - good to know the road reading and reaction skills are still top notch

Looks like he didn't see you at all - cursory look and then he pulls out unless he committed, paused and then thought sod it

Think any of the terms used for him above would suit

Good work from you though - glad you and the Zed are ok.

:driving:

It sure gave me a fright, I caught up with him at some temporary traffic lights just as you leave Jedburgh, the guy was a nutter as his revertsing lights came on for a few seconds. I thoughtfor a second he was going to reverse back into me, but I think he thought better of it, and words were exchanged briefly.

Glad to here you escaped with minor expletives only! :)
You should be able to identify the driver with the hire company if you get in touch with them.
Dash cam sounds like an excellent buy and your incident is an excellent advert for there use............ will start looking soon.

Thanks Angus, I might see if the police are interested in the video footage when I get back to work

I hate people who do that on roundabouts, just not paying any attention behind at all

Thought you were posting some footage from earlier in the day

Got hours of footage but I'm crap at uploading

Local plod are sometimes interested in these. I know Surrey police allow you to upload footage nowadays of bad drivers for them to investigate.

Unfortunately on closer inspection of the video, the name on the truck is a hire company. Could be hired to either the local authority or a highway company judging by the tools in the back.

You were rather lucky there Swiftly ,that could have been quite a knock ,the quality of the dash cam footage looks very good ,if you don't mind me asking what make of Dash camera do you have ,

I desperately need one of these dashcams to catch all the complete morons who drive straight over lanes at roundabouts. Had loads of near misses because of it. The latest one was a big black dude on his phone, driving 1 handed then called me all sorts, all because he doesn't know how to drive...

I have an Amberalla Mini 0801 GPS camera, had it for about 18 months and never given any trouble.

It has now been superceeded by the mini 0806 http://www.combi.org.uk/products/89/NEW-Mini-0806-Ambarella-A7-1296P-Car-Dash-Camera-DVR-With-GPS

There are a few threads on these cameras if you do a search as quite a few members have them fitted in there cars

It was probably a pikey Swiftly, saw you coming in your nice car an deliberately pulled out.Not even worth getting involved with the scumbag.Deep breaths and let him be on his way....earlier said than done though.

& the tool in the front

does the camera always stay in the car & record on auto whenever the car is running :?
If i bought one id either forget to start it or leave it in the house

Connected to powered fuse so records when you start the car. Also has g-force recording when parked.

Yes it always stays in the car Andy, unless I am wanting to copy over some footage from the micro SD card. Where it is located in the car it is very hard to notice from outside as it sort of blends in with the rear view mirror. I must though replace the standard grey sticky pad for a black one to make it almost invisible to passers by

I have it wired to an ignition live, position 1 feed, that way I can forget about it. In fact I forget it is there as I can't see it from the drivers seat as it is completely obscured by the rear view mirror. which is how I intended it to be. In fact it also catches some interesting footage when in at the dealers for service, as I don't think the mechanics realise it is there either.
