People can't seem to say my real first name properly (not to mention my last name) and really winds me up. I spend half my life spelling both my names out..That's why I renamed myself Ruby as its pretty hard to get that wrong.

This reminds me of my colleague and his parents having had similar problems themselves, naming him Kevindra after Kevin Keegan, and his brother is Alvindra as they also admired Alvin Stardust !

You'll be surprised then that people struggle with Neil.

I wanted to name our son (whilst my pregnancy hormones were going mad) Percival, Perry for short. He ended up Elliot.... anyone like to guess which comedy series we were watching a lot of at the time ?
Scrubs.

Mark's my middle name (so I am constantly called by my first name by anyone who meets me after reading a form I filled in) and my surname requires spelling out by everyone unless you live in a small village near doncaster.

Well if it is any consolation Mark, quite a lot of people can't spell Stephanie and no English person ever spells my surname correctly, and very few pronounce it right. Speaking of odd spellings, there is an 'artistic' type at work who likes to spell his name Marq.....

Which part of Germany are you from? Just drove yesterday from Karlsruhe to Basel ... yum, no limits :)
