My MOD money just went in to the Toilet....

All that overtime I just did for mod money (and collage tuition for the rest of the year) is now gone.

My son, the collage boy, decided that he needed to change the spark plugs on his 2003 Ford Explorer Sport. It has the 4.0 V6 engine w/ 47K on the engine.

Well, not listening to me (Why do I have to listen to Dad? :smart: ) he crossthreaded no. one spark plug. It's a freaking messsssss.... :sick2:
The plug sits about 30' off centerline of the cylinder and spits gas when run the engine.

Now I have to find a good mechanic to fix this. God it's going to be expensive... The cylinder head will have to come off. No room to do anything while it's installed...

They will retap the hole and it will be as good as a Ford gets. Your mod list will be on track before you know it.

If you could get to it with the cylinder head on, I would say thats what they would do, but you have a hard time just getting your hand in there, and you cannot see the hole. You are working blind. I have a tap that would work, but I would not do it since I could not see if I was lined up properly...

My old Thunderbird had about the same problem, getting to #1 was a friggin' nightmare. I always let someone else do the spark plug change, $50 was well worth it for me to save my hands and patience. :x

Sorry to hear about the mishap. :( All in all, I hope that your son's car repairs amount to a very minor cost, such that you will be able to still have some of your hard-earned Mod Money...

Kids....No matter how much we parents, advise, lecture, discuss, assist, etc. etc....they never seem to learn...
As parents we do everything we can to protect, teach and nuture them... but sometimes they just still want to try whatever it is themselves, whether the outcome is success or failure, we are there for support...
In the past I have experienced this with my son many of times..I feel your pain.....

Good Luck...with the fix

Why isnt ur son paying for it?? Sorry to hear that, us youngsters do think we know it all! :P

Totally off topic but 'Rick Hunter' those legs in your picture thingy are awesome!

You are going to get it..... Don't bash my Ford... sounds like you need a good ol' country ass woopin.... :poke: :fuelfire:

Just remember that your son will most likely choose which old folks home you end up in later in life. :poke: :fuelfire:

I've told my Dad, I love him an all that, but when he gets to where he can't take care of himself he's going in a home. I just couldn't deal with that.
