My M Coupe has finally arrived !!!

Well after waiting 2 weeks for new shock absorbers to arrive from Germany, I finally got my Z4M Coupe on Thursday.

First impressions...it's amazing. It is sooo much quicker than my old 3.0i Z4 (which lets face it is no slouch). The noise it makes too...epic. I'm getting loads of looks as well which is good. The colour (midnight blue) looks really good.

Hope to come to one of the meets this summer.

I gave it a really good wash today :-

Hose down
Wash (2 bucket method) with Autoglym Bodywork Shampoo Conditioner and Meguiars Hot Wheels
Meguiars Clay kit
Meguiars Deep Crystal Three Step - paint cleaner, polish and carnuba wax (1 coat of each)
Meguiars Gold Class Endurance High Gloss tyre shine
BMW Natural Care Glass Cleaner

Not bad for a newbie to this detailing stuff. Gonna get it done by a pro soon though because there are one or two fine scratches/swirls and the usual BMW orange peel effect. Planning on using Barry from Auto Detox. Seen his work on Detailing World and prices quite reasonable too.

Anyway here's some piccies.....

Very nice looking

You know, after seeing all pics of the M Coupes on here I think I really will have to start looking around for one. The damned things are growing on me like a fungus. What on earth can I get rid of to make room ????

not usually a fan of dark blue cars but that looks mega! im well jealous!

the car looks brand new!

Spotless, absolutely lovely.
I wish my front wheels looked like that. One is already looking a bit scruffy at 19k miles. In fact when it goes in for a service I'm going to push for a warranty claim as it's is now corroding around the rim edge.

do It  :poke:

VERY VERY NICE i want an M more and more every time i see them

would look cool with a stubby, black grilles and black vinyl wrap to the bottom middle part of the front bumper.

any mods planned?

Awesome job, congratulations on your patience with all that cleaning. I had a look at a coupe in that colour/seat combination and think it looks incredible. I personally wonder whether you would get much value out of a detail at this stage though, that paintwork looks fantastic and I'm afraid the orange peel is there to stay unless you went all in for the KDS style wetsanding (a massive job) IMHO you're better off leaving well alone. Check out the polishing machinery mentioned in the detailing thread for dealing with any swirls at considerably less than the price of a full detail

Looking Very Nice matey 8)

I can vouch for Barry, take a look at the links in my sig for his work.
Does look like a nasty case of Orange peel - I think I was quite fortunate with mine (07 Car)

Barry didnt seem to keen on wet-sanding (the only cure for orange peel?) when I used him - this may be bacause I only gave him 2 days with the car (Drop off Friday Afternoon, Pick up Sunday PM)

For more ideas on whats involved , check out the work by Kelly @ KDS Keltec : http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=181&t=685712&nmt=Pics%20of%20my%20E93%20M3%20post%20KDS%20wet%20sand%20and%20paint%20refurbishment

Thanks v much for the comments everyone and the advice on the detailing. I'd read the KDS stuff and his work is incredible. The biggest issue was - he is in Kent and he'd need my car for a week which as this is my only car is a problem but I guess I could hire one. Something to ponder over the next few months or so. The swirls days are numbered though !

As for mods - I'm getting the feeling a stubby is a pre-recquisite :) and considering some others such as CSL wheels, painted calipers (although can't decide what colour would be good for my car), possibly black grille - why didn't they just make the whole thing black rather than mess around with a chrome surround eh ?

As for the guys wavering towards an M Coupe...do it you'll never look back. I adored my 3.0i Roadster and kept it longer than any other car I've ever had but I can honestly say after 4 days with M Power it's now a distant memory ! I just adore the new motor and everytime I wake up in the morning I've got a smile on my face knowing I'm off out in it again ! I'm now already thinking what on earth will i swap this for in a few years time :?

Great forum and looking forward to introducing myself to you at a meet over the summer.

By the way if any wants an BMW outdoor cover for a Z4 I have one which I've only used about 5 times. It might need a clean and dust because its been in my garage for 3 years. Looking for £60 for it which seems to be the going rate on E-Bay.

Congrats Steve - glad it finally came through for you! As everyone else says it looks amazing, and I'm gutted you beat me to it on that car!

I'm in your shoes with the long wait - nothing to do with parts this time but dealer taking an age to sort out the paperwork for my reg transfer :o
