Bangernomics?
I'm considering an old Volvo T5R estate for bangernomicking....

p.s. is that picnic bench on the bootlid factory spec? :o

Pretty much bullet proof and probably one of the best built Mercs. Looks in v good condition. What’s the engine in it

My brother had one identical to that one, same colour and year, it also had the boot spoiler.
It may be the photo angle, but that grill looks different ?

This grille is a non-standard/after-market grill. I'm putting it back to standard.
I wonder if it was your brother's because there can't be that many in this colour with this interior and the factory boot spoiler?

Yes, it's a factory fitted rear spoiler.

This actually my 5th W201. I love them and think they are (one of) the best mass-produced cars ever made!

That's hardly surprising considering the billions of DM Mercedes put into research and development. When you work on them you realise not only how well they were made but also that a W124 is in essence just a bigger 190E...even R129 SL shares much of the same ethos and design as the W201.

This one is a 2.0L again. The others I have had (in reverse order) are:

I've bought this red one as another project to get on with as a hobby.

As far as I remember, his had a 2.3 or 2.6 engine ?? (long time ago now) and the interior was a check/tartan type material.
I remember it was a lovely car though

If it wasn't a 1.8 or 2.0L it's likely to have been 2.6L because I think 2.3L was available as an odd-ball New Zealand spec.

The interior on mine is red...but not as bright (nor is the car as bright red...more a wine red hence 'Barolo' red) as in this photo taken by the chap I bought it from:

Old school cool that is...

Set of AMG monoblocks on that

 No! I don't like them...but it would be proper Old Skool!

I'm not even that keen on the rear spoiler but it's factory and to remove it would mean committing to having to have the holes filled and the bootlid repainted. At the moment, it's all original paintwork.

I had 2 x 190 Cosworths years ago..

A black 2.3 and a silver 2.5.

The 2.3 was a much better car, even though it was earlier.

They are finally climbing to big money! :)

They lagged behind the hype of the BMW E30 M3 for too long...and I say that as an ex-E30 M3 owner. The 190 is a much better built car than an E30!

That looks lovely OP.

Years ago I had a blue/black manual 190e.

One of my bigger car mistakes was selling it to get a C280.

Yeah it's on air ride so at least it's practical  He gave strong money for it though (over 6 grand!)
