my last summer with the z4m!

Good luck Byron, whatever the eventual outcome. I'm in a similar position - agonising over whether to part with my Z4MC after 9.5 years of ownership and rising. I change my mind on a weekly basis but I think I will be selling later in the year. I need to experience new things before I'm too old to do so!!

So hard isnt it!..... ive been getting some offers however, every day is a battle...... We will see ay... we will see! youve had yours a decade now... honestly sometimes, these attachments stop us moving forward abit imo...... Life moves on. GL O.G,

I also loved my Z4M roadster very deeply and even so; I also sold it after 8 years of ownership (I never thought this would happen). I have a M2 since the end of 2016 (daily driver). I have kept them together for two years (M2 daily / Z4M sun & fun). But at the end of 2018 I came to the conclusion I was not driving the Z4M that much any more and it was just money standing there. It was a shame to keep the car sitting in the garage most of the time and (for me) cars need to be driven, so the money I spent on the car has a actual purpose. I sold it after the summer!

Two reasons; I wanted to have something not BMW M related as a future second car instead of two BMW M's and for the time being I could use the extra money for some nice investments. Honestly; it's now sold for more then 5 months...and I did not miss it that much. But and this is a "big" but; the main reason I don't miss it that much is because I love the M2 so much. Only when the sun is really shining I miss driving with the roof down. I miss the sweet high revving NA engine and better steering feel also, but not that much as I would think before selling it. Driving topless was so fun to do on sunny days...but my M2 is so much fun all day...every day (I did not expect I would love the M2 this much). The money I got from selling the Z4M also does good things for my future and this gives me a nice and happy feeling also. So in the end; I have absolutely zero regrets of buying, driving, modding and selling my Z4M :)

By the way; my Z4M was a rather high mileage car (100.000 miles) because I drove it a lot and never cared about future value. I tried selling it with the AP brakes and all the modifications but this did not work very well and took for ages. In the end I sold the parts (even the hardtop) all separately and this way I got the best deal and the most money on the car. It was one of the best fun cars I could ever buy that was also a good financial deal when it came to buying and selling (never expected this when buying it in 2010).

Good luck with the potential sale....and after I bought my Z4M back in the days; your advise on buying the AP brakes for ultimate track fun was absolute 100% correct advise! ;)

Best of luck Byron, sounds like you're ready to let it go even though it will be hard. I let mine go after 5.5 years (to a buyer I didn't even like, which made it worse, and had his enquiry not come through I was about to pull the advert and just keep it). Been on a bit of a car journey since and had some ups and downs and I'm now in something less than half the price of my Z4MC but still enjoying it. Do I miss the Z4MC? It's a great car but I was ready to move on. I'm still passionate about them but just feel like I've done it and so gotta look forward in terms of cars.

great comment.... Well.. we will see, ive had some bloody decent offers, very high 20s but not close enough for me to bite. if it does sell, ill put some cash into the business and then get myself a classic to build up, then hopefully give myself abit of the cushion id like during the new business rocky road

Be a shame to see it go mate- I’m sure you will stick around on the forum. Get yourself a cheap early e85 to keep the z fix alive!

Well as others have said Byron. It is just a car. One hell of a car tho. But moving forward is the way to go. I hope your business really brings you the financial success you deserve and then maybe you will keep the car. Whoever gets it is getting the best example I’ve seen. If I had the money would come get it today. How about £20. Or is that a bit cheap 😄 regards Ray

Good luck with the sale Byron! It’s just a car, it’ll sell at the right price and you’ll use the money to push your business forward and eventually buy something really exciting down the line.

The only risk in life is to not take any risks! Glwts

👍🏼

Just seen this now :(

Fingers crossed things pick up and you can keep hold of the beast!

I hate selling cars, I'm awful at it, I'd keep all of them if I could!

Grafting... trust me im grafting!! Crazy ride but loving it!!

Lots of months I have not posted in the forum, after the loss I had of my car. My friend sad to hear that you have to choose, but I would choose my work everyday versus the car. With one good year you can have it back. The other way doesn't work. I have worked the same like you for many years to buy that car and when I bought it I made a promise to myself. The promise was that in case my works needs the money the car will go. If I could afford it I would choose your car everyday instead of a low mile stock vehicle.

Hey Byron! It's been a while since I've posted here. We'll be sorry to see you go. As a fellow ESS Z4M owner, I can attest to the OEM quality and shear speed of the kit!

I noticed your 996tt (GT2?) profile pic. Many of us supercharged Z4M folk have moved to 996/997 Turbos (I'm just different and kept my fleet of Z's). My 966tt is heavily modified, and I love the insane torque of the Mezger engine.

Good luck with your next opportunity! The only advice I have is that half of the enthusiasts I know that sold their Z4M's have ended up regretting it so much that they bought another. My ESS Z4M's previous owner wants his car back, and it's got many more rock chips than yours. While it may not impress like it used to, it drives superior to anything BMW makes these days.

Hope to goes well Byron, I remember you starting out down the supercharged road just after I’d returned my M3 cab to stock (I had an ESS kit running 14 PSi with a built low compression engine from Simpson)

Byron, howly cows mate.. but I hear ya man, business must come first.

Hope you get to hang on to it mate as I know how much you love it, but as you said man, its up to the universe.

Great knowing you man!

Good luck with wherever the wind takes you.
