On the oil cooler topic, there must be another one somewhere as I'm sure BMW stated another was fitted in the 35is? Or is that one bigger?

Yes they say that in the press release :)

I'm not sure of this but I think all the "Sport " packages included an oil cooler, plus most if not all the 35 series engines over her (after a certain date) came with oil coolers. (My service tech checks each one before doing a remap and that's what he said)

My oil (?) cooler is 12" x 6" :?

I think about a 335i touring after my one series. Same engine as these cars isn't it?

But, does it have an oil cooler?

Report back when it gets to 5 or 10 '000 miles, I am sure it will be doing much better MPG once it has bedded in.

I see some differences with what you have and the specs available on our website over here. Ours has virtually no optional equipment, everything is included except the extra charge for paint colour and the charge for an All white leather package.
All the heated stuff is included, the SatNav , the Idrive , "everything".....No options on the wheels either, it comes with a set.

Price before tax and incidentals (without the White Leather and paint) was around $79,000 CDN .

No wind deflector? Of course, 98% of the time your 35is will be roof up. :D
I would say more 99.9% :)
I think there are only two of us that would do that, I much prefer the looks roof up and if I had one I would keep the top up all the time, like I do with my SLK now.

As an ex coupe owner I would have said the same but the last 3 days my roof has nearly always been down!
Mpg does get better. Mine's done 11,000 miles now and travelling on an all day trip the other day of fast A roads, dual tracks and motorways mine has been averaging 31 mpg!! I never got that from my 3.0 or my Mini JCW!! Impressed!
Normall day to day it has been doing 26.9mpg.

Yes I have never liked the open top look, on my old Z the hardtop was on 100% of the time, only took it off because I'm selling the car soon.

:o

Ouch - we really do get stung here in Australia - you can add at least another $50K to that price to get it here... :x

I really am going to try and get the roof down at every possible opportunity this year. :D The car is much nicer to drive with the roof folded away.

I am seeing more E89s on the road now and I don't think one with the roof down. You could start a trend

To add:

Kryton, very nice looking car you have there!

That metal edge looks a bit sharp on the right or is that just the picture?

It does look strange, a bit like an after thought to cut the body work out, there is a strengthening bar next to it?

It's not sharp though, thats sealer on the edge

Glad I watched Mega Factories the other week - that sealer kept me wondering whether the car had been accident damaged, now I know what it is. It is an odd looking finish though. Still... out of sight :P

PawnSacrifice, Not always easy - have you seen the sort of weather we get? :(

I checked mine to see if it had the "unfinished" look in that place. Its not quite as ragged looking as in that photo, and I actually have a black box type thing located in there, but definitely no ragged edges.

still not 100% on it from a rear angle, but do like it with the top off 8)

the colour makes a lot more sense when you can see the interior colour too ;)

Yes the ragged look is caused by the rubber sealer to the edge, think they could have smoothed it off
