My Inspection 2 by TWG Automotive

On the invoice it says engine mount bolts :?

Anyway, did they check the mounts themselves too ?

Interested in your decision process flimper. My car will have an oil service next April at the latest, probably sooner, then an inspection 2 after that. I was planning on doing the oil change at my local stealer to maintain the
BMW service history - firstly in case I decide to buy a warranty, and secondly *just in case* something happens that requires me to sell... Like my man maths proving woefully inadequate :P However I have a very good local indie who know their stuff, and would actually prefer to use them for my servicing - trust more than cost being the driver tbh. So why did you decide to go outside the dealer network ? Is it less important as these cars get older ?

The engine mount bolts had come loose (Usual problem) so the garage fitted new OEM mounts.

My only comment on the Indy front Bing is use someone who has a good reputation with ///M's. Shouldn't be hard to find out if yours has or not.

Might be worth looking at ETA at Brands, not too far from you and David has used them and praises them.

TWG have a good reputation, and the techs all came from BMW so that was good enough for me. The only drawback was not being able to trade it in at BMW when/if I come to sell. I would prefer to sell privately on here anyway, and to an enthusiast I doubt what I have done will have an adverse affect on sale price. It won't be worth more than £2.50 when the time comes anyway thanks to being without a nav :D

I'll give you £2.61 :D not fussed about the nav, drivers car doesn't need distractions like that imo :P

Only issue with the car was... Engine top bolts! Given how I drive the car (like Miss Daisy), anybody with a pre-2008 M that drives it hard, get these checked ASAP

Just spent some time looking around my engine compartment with a torch and I'm trying to understand where (relative to the car) this photo was taken from. Could the loose bolt be seen before the head was taken off or only afterwards?

What's the lid with "Achtung" on it? (I thought at first that it was the brake fluid reservoir, but that has yellow writing on it).

My M is due an Inspection II, but I'm probably going to go the main dealer route (Partridge BMW in Eastleigh) as I want to maintain the main dealer service history. Do I need to ask them to check the bolts?

There is no reason why you could not sell back to main dealer.

Looks like a ARB at the bottom of the picture, so you need to be under the car.

I thought for them to sell a car as AUC it had to have FBMWSH

Look at the number of ///M's bought on here from main dealers that have been under serviced and so on. If you remember I rejected my first one after one day when I realised they had lied about the servicing and it missed it by 8 months. They said the previous owner did it himself, but they were more than happy to sell the car.

It will come down to the dealer of course, and if they think they can sell the car. If they know there is a market for it they will buy. Price depending of course.

The lid is the power steering reservoir.

Thanks. On my car, the Power Steering reservoir has a knurled lid with a little dip stick in it, and with no writing on it. It's also quite difficult to get at.
