my headlight wowes

ok, very quick one, long story, but
4 weeks ago i buy a 58 coupe, unseen from a dealer,

i pay delivery charge, but they miss the delivery time, as the car fails MOT on drivers headlight, i get a call explaining etc, so all was ok, and another day arranged.

day came and the car arrived, driven 100 miles down to me, rather than on a transporter...not overly happy but hey, its here.

i check light works, and it does, all good

guy leaves, and about an hour later, i see the light isnt working any more !!!!!!!
call guy, no answer, ok no prob hes on his way back i assume, so leave message.

few days go by, nothing, nada, so i ask a auto electrician to come have a quick look it may only be a bulb (xenon so not ordinary)
he swaps everything around side to side, ssays he will need car in for a better look

i text and email company, nothing, i call the dealers, and the woman says the salesman is busy (always busy never returns call)

so 2 weeks go by, and now my auto electrician has the car for the day, says the headlight unit is faulty

I email garage stating this along with a slight rant about lack of reply and that they cant honor warranty if they dont answer.
i am not in a position to drive car back to them, before you say

I find a replacement second hand headlight,

im out of pocket around £500

Iv just done a online Court Claim, and paid £60

im also sending the company
A copy of the online claim
a letter explaining the costs and lack of response
copy of the email, text message and phone call (date times etc)
copy of the ebay headlight unit

Have i got a chance of getting money back?
Am i doing right sending the garage all the info? (wil be sent recorded signed)
or am i wasting my time

bearing in mind the last 2 MOT the car has needed work on that light!,
oh and i contacted the MOT garage, they said they did no wor to fix, they just MOT'd the car, but he was sheepish, and clearly a pal of the garage.

[phew]

im away on 'work' so my mate the auto electrician fits new headlight, swaps the ballast and wot not, from old unit, and the ballast has gone DAM DAM DAM, hes ordering me one, says 70 odd quid, so now at least i know my lights will work.

the old headlight, he sent me pics, it looks like a shitstorm in there, the rear backing plate was missing, and the inner wing cover missing so all road crap just flew into the light unit, he even said there was no way it worked for mot, inless they hotwired past the ballast, and guess what, they had!!!!!! it had melted the ballast plug in! so it was just enough to pass mot, and my quick check.

so hopefully all done for when i get home :) yayhh

You need this outfit reporting to the Trading Standards first thing in the morning together with all this information. Can't see how your compo bid can fail if it goes to court, but will they pay up?????? Good luck anyway.

Let us know who the dealer is so we can avoid them in the future :o

Good luck with your claim - right thing to do
