My first Z4!

Hello

I've had an e36 and an e46 in the past, and now have a 2007 2.5si Z4 in automatic. I turned 40 and felt the mid life style crisis coming on strong so could not resist!

I live in Australia and am taking it out on a BMW Club breakfast run next week! So far it is very different, much more sensitive and I find I have to correct for every little bump in the road as it just turns with them. Not an e46 at all!

I look forward to taking part in the forum and learning as I go!

Cheers!

PS waiting for the rain to stop so I can take a picture!

Hi there, Welcome aboard the forum.

No excuses on the pics, get em up, we love the sight of a nicely beaded bonnet. :D

Welcome to the forum, as said above - we need pics, especially as you're basking in summer right now 8)

As for the sensitivity... Do you have run-flat tyres on ? If so, that will be your problem. The stiff sidewalks combined with the 'unique' geometry set-up means that they will catch every change in camber and rut in the road. Which translates to the steering wheel feeling weird as it moves around very slightly all the time. You do get used to it eventually, but... Many people - myself included on my last Z - change for normal tyres and immediately state the car is a completely different animal, much more composed, less hard ride etc.

Welcome to the forum and +1 on getting normal tyres fitted - you'll still have the feel without so much tram-lining and sensitivity (and a much improved ride quality as well)

:driving:

Hi and welcome.

Surely it never rains for more than 10 minutes in Aus at this time of year? Will expect pics VERY soon!

Enjoy :driving:

Tuesday and still no pics ? ....I dont beleive it. You should have bought an Ark instead

Welcome to a Friendly Forum :D

Blimey. If it's still raining I hope you can trade your Zed in for a boat!

We like pics of boats as well :poke:

It rains a lot here, but it stopped long enough on Sunday for a trip up to Mount Tambourine with the BMC Club for breakfast. It is all rainforests and tourists and good for a drive with the top down. So here is the car:

I must admit it doesn't look this good in reality, it was a very skilled photographer. Actually who am I kidding it looks that good to me, and I even found myself walking out of the building at work one day to go check it out!

It is now unfortunately back at the dealer getting a new fuel tank and pumps and sensors, and the breather got blocked and the tank imploded itself! But I hope to have it back for the weekend.

I have since bought a new rubber for around the window and the plate for below the wipers, as the Australian sun really wrecks them.

Cheers and thanks for the welcome!
