First impressions

The drive home... nervous and tired after a relatively long week and a night out the day before - boy did this machine wake me up, sat on edge, poised over the steering wheel with my heart pounding - "christ this thing is quick" i said to myself heading down a winding A road. Even at 70-80% power i managed to give myself a nervous laugh followed by a huge grin.

Eventually got some time to chill in a bit of London traffic, watching all the heads turn (something i'm not quite used to yet!) had some time to play with all of the toys. I've come to the conclusion there's just enough features and gadgets to keep you entertained, but even with satnav/intravee/heated seats etc - it still feels fairly basic and more about the driving than the creature comforts - and i like it!

Driving home with a big grin on my face i couldnt help but feel sad for Raify, and i very quickly realised what these cars must mean to their owners - a very special place to be.

Got home and took the Mrs for a spin and a classy McDonalds drivethrough dinner ( some how my 1hr30 drive home became 3 hours of fun, and it was late when i got back :D) - very quickly realised life in a Z4 is different to other cars, could barely reach the credit card machine to pay never mind receive all of the food from a ledge above my head, everyone on their nights out in fulham staring at the car!

Parked her up for a safe nights sleep before the weekend ahead... Constantly looking out the window to make sure it was still there :D

First weekend trip away...

Saturday morning, packed up the car, used the morning as an opportunity to go round the car, check things over - get a feel for it in daylight and with less pressure to rush - It's such a well looked after car i found it hard to add to my list of things i'd like to do to it. I think the only thing on the cards is a full interior/exterior detail and maybe fix a few (very) minor paint chips.

So off we head up to a friends house, the car made comfortable work of eating up the miles, as soon as we got out of busy west london, hit the A4 and let her loose a little. Ate up the miles and made easy work of the motorway and M25.

finally onto the A421 towards Oxford, playing around with a friend and his 335i - wow. Great pair of cars to trip away in, and finally hitting the Cotswold country lanes there's only one word to describe this car:

brutal.

It loves the corners, can't wait to go fast, acceleration is raw and harsh - doesn't really understand the meaning of slow and steady. You CAN notch it up some gears and trundle around but you get the feeling it's ever wanting to be doing higher revs. Aboslutely thrilling ride that got every one of my friends i met at the weekend asking for a ride - girls in the passenger seat screaming at the speed and the blokes pulling nervous grins followed by laughter akin to the end of a rollercoaster.

Little kids ALL stare at it, very entertaining to watch.

We decided to go and visit the Mrs' dad doing some paragliding and took the opportunity to get some quick snaps in the sun, sadly only on the iphone though (attached below).

After a long weekend with a 'Cycle Pub Crawl' and a bit of paragliding it was the nicest place to be sat on the journey home to London. A420, country lanes, A40, M40 soaking up the miles and the sunset, with a quick snap of the sun gone down in the wingmirror.

Really like the colour of the wheels against the Imola, are they shadow chrome or just brake dust dirty?

Nice car! Want to sell it? :poke:

I polished the Mazda at the weekend. It wasn't the same.

Glad you're enjoying it. :driving:
