I've had this beauty for just over a week and puts the smile back into driving!
My first project is to fit a wind defector. Has anyone got any tips or advise on how to remove the roll bar covers?

Congratulations. A great looking car and I’m sure you will love it. Sorry I can’t help you with the roll bar covers as mine had a wind deflector fitted when I bought it. They do make a difference.

Nice motor and welcome.
Mine didn't come with one either. Managed to get one off ebay and bought the two brackets that hold it in separately. I didn't remove my hoops as I didn't buy the deflectors the go in the middle of each hoop and just measured where abouts the brackets should fit, marked it up, drilled pilot holes and screwed them in place to the original hoops.

Thanks for the advice. So the bracket fixing screws just screw into the plastic cover and don’t locate into the roll bar its self ?

That is correct. I do believe the correct hoop covers have a thicker section for the screws to screw into but don't quote me on that. I did this method on my E85 Z too and it worked fine, thus doing the same on my E89.

On my E89 the screws go right through the plastic roll hoop cover into the roll hoop.
I have attached some diagrams which may help. Getting the plastic hoop covers off is just a case of perseverance trying to ease them off, inevitably the second side is easier as you will have worked out where to pull.
