My first track day

Went very well and I think I am now an addict!!

Shortfuse2 Ian sent me a PM about a track day at the Curborough Sprint course inviting me along. Thank you so much for that i had such a great day  I think the reason it was so much fun was the friendly introduction. No drivers meetings no flags and no other cars to worry about. I was a bit apprehensive at first having never been on a track. But Ian took me round at a fairly steady pace showing me what to look out for. What the rough line was and what to do where if you do lose control!!!
There was no pressure to faster or slower. The words its your day your time on track just enjoy it i found really settling. Ian has said he will try and organize a Z4 day next year and if he dose make sure if your close do it forum...

So about my day the car worked very well. Noting fell off or broke and after spending so long recently working on the suspension. I was really very pleased with how it all worked. My car is harsh and a little uncomfortable on the road. And far to noisy but out on track it felt and sounded great. I had a moment where i lost brake peddle feel and i think that's down to cheap fluid and just road pads. So new braided lines fluid and pads at some point. Ian dont forget i want you old discs to see if i can make M brakes fit my car!!! I think my driving got better over the day i feel i defiantly got quicker. And i understand how my car drives and its ability so much more. I dont think i was much slower than the M cars down the straight i thing i was about 5- 10 mph slower. I started the day with all the traction control turned on. After a few laps i turned it DTC and that's where it stayed. I found it a bit intrusive but i didn't have the confidence to turn it all off maybe next time? From my days of downhill mountain biking I think i have aged and learnt to recognize when my ambition has bigger goals than my actual talent!!

So i cant wait until the next one. And if you can come along you will love it

Thanks again Ian (shortfuse2) And it was really good to meet you Ian (Logan) Your Z4MC is my dream car and i am very jealous!!

Sounds great. Would love to do something like this.

How did the consumables wear? Pads, Tyres etc etc? I don't fancy shagging a set of tyres in a day, but guess it depends how hard you drive?

Sounds like you had an amazing time Mat, i cant wait to track my Zed i have done the brake upgrade now so will get uprated fluid put in then book one up.

Did you do a novice day?

What track did you go to?

Any brown trouser moments/near misses?

Ash

I say do it I was really worried but had a great day. The great thing about this track is your the only car out on track. And there is no pressure to drive fast!! It's just as fast as you want to go.

As for consumables tyres don't seem any different pads?? Will the wheels weren't covered in dust like a weeks use? I was no hero but I was pushing as hard as I felt I could.

I really did  why not z4s where built to be driven they are cars

I think I already give the country roads a spirited drive so scared that taking it on a track day might just kill him..

mm, i have for sale front and rear new oem discs from my z3m, i wonder if these would fit on a 3 litre, also braided front flexis and braided clutch hose.
