My first ever BMW Z4....is annoying me!

Hello

I'm new here, and decided to look up a forum after an annoying afternoon with my Z4. It's a 2004 model, 3.0 si with a hardtop and soft-top underneath. There is warranty on the car but i doubt that it will be of any use. My problems are:

Sat nav: it thinks I'm in Swindon, and I am not.
Telephone: Can't connect iPhone with the in car system. Neither Bluetooth can find each other.
CD changer: The 'mode' button on the stereo does nothing. It won't change from radio-cd-aux etc

Is it possible that these issues might all be linked?

Also, i see that there is no spare wheel. Should the car be fitted with runflat tyres? It isn't and I'm wondering what to do about this issue as well.

Any advice or assistance would be most welcomed. I feel deflated a bit. I looked at a specific website 3-4- times per week. The company involved seems to be very reputable and very trustworthy. After sales customer care though, has been rubbish and I feel that my complaints will fall on deaf ears if I even bother to tell them of my worries.

The car is structurally sound, goes really well...and alnost in a straight line now that I've had 4 wheel alignment done.

Please offer me some advice and put my mind at rest.

many thanks in advance

Steve

Have you put CD's in the changer ?

Some people disconnect the changer to fit an AUX socket..On the earlier cars you cant have both.

Bluetooth... Sometimes the modules can be a bit dodgy. I take it you have the module code and you are prepping the car properly to search for each other ?

If run flats not fitted, you usually have an inflation kit and tyre gunk.. The TPMS will still work and inform you of low pressure.. Many many people take off the runflats,it ruins the ride of the car and they are noisy..

Anyway..... no biggies...

Welcome and pics are a prerequisite

Hi Steve and welcome to the Z4 Forum. The main thing is as you say, your car is structurally sound and goes really well and I'm sure all these little issues are easily sorted.Unfortunatley I'm not the man to help you but someone will be along soon to assist you.

hi and welcome .not big probs .but I no how it can take the edge off the car .you will get it sorted some one on here will help with all the advise you need .
lets see some pics

When I got my first Zed I was concerned that there was no jack or spare wheel! It took me time to find out that this was the norm and I needed some tyre repair gunk and an electric air pump to carry in the boot.

Can't help with the phone connection but I remember having an intermittent fault with the mode selection on my present Zed - only happened the once and not been a problem since - sorry no idea why!

Welcome to the Forum - you'll soon get used to your Zed and begin to enjoy it more. If it's a 2004 it will be a 3.0i not and si (just for info)

Hi and welcome to the Forum

All has been said on the issue on run flats. Most members on this Forum changed to non RFTs to significantly improve the handling. The tyre pressure monitor works of wheel rotation monitoring so and change in overall circumference due to tyre deflation and in comparison to the others will trigger the monitor irrespective of tyres fitted.

Buy a can of wheel sealant from Halfords or similar just in case BUT BUY an water soluble version so you tyre can be repaired if necessary - other non waterbed products are difficult to remove and tyre fitters/repairers will not normally work on a tyre in a non water based repair sealant has been used.

sat Nav - can't help you there.

iPhone connection - not necessarily a problem with your Zed but worth a search on the Apple site for possible rectification.

Just a quick one - did these issues occur after purchase or did you raise them at the time your bought the Zed

welcome along,
Just a shot in the dark but could the nav disc that is inserted be the swedish issue ,only guessing,
Enjoy the car ,dont let the niggles spoil a great motor

With the Bluetooth, try going through the deleting of all previously paired phones. The instructions are in the book and it's very similar to pairing a phone. It's what I had to do recently.

Also make sure you are using the button in the centre console and not the one on the steering wheel.

Hi and welcome.

Sat Nav probably aeria issue. disconnect the battery for 30 mins. If that does not fix a new aerial is less than a tenner on ebay.

AUX and CD changer can be used on earl cars, but need the plus merging.

BT can be a bugger to pair, probably working fine.

Most issues addressed- as far as I know the earlier modules for bluetooth wont sync with newer iphones. I'm sure you will get the other issues sorted. Welcome :driving:
