My first E86...

Hi all

I've just purchased my first E86 having looked for a while. Bought this from a lovely couple, it's been there pride and joy and is absolutely immaculate - love it! Early first photo, I'll add more shortly.

It's got BC Coilovers and 19" wheels (not sure what kind they are?) and rides pretty well, but the front end does to seem to wander around a little - it's booked into Center Gravity to see if they can improve it, not sure if this is an E86 trait? Sounds good too with a Scorpion exhaust.

The car joins my Elise S1, 997.2 and Mx5 Super 180...although the latter may have to go as I'm running out of space and time to enjoy it properly now.

I don't have the BT code and don't fancy ripping out the boot, so a trip to either Sytners or local Indie on the to do list.

All the best

Nice car, my Mrs located the code easily by moving some trim in the boot in our old coupe just saying it’s not a big job if you can’t be bothered with a trip to bmw...my Mrs was determined to find it though

Welcome, nice coupe! I have the same issue as you re. bluetooth and have had my car for over seven years and never bothered to sort it out. I spoke to Sytner about it (in Tamworth I think) and they were unhelpful - they didn't even realise you could retrieve it by looking on the module. From what I've read on here the bluetooth is disappointing so I'm not sure I'll ever address it.

What year is your MX-5? I assume it's a BBR upgrade? I am considering modifying my ND next year so would be really interested to hear about your experience.

Thanks!

BT is just for the occasional call - not expecting much but don't have it in the MX5 and it's occasionally frustrating but not enough to have done anything about it for 3 years...sound familiar?

Sport Recaro ND sounds great. Mine's a 2007 NC, started with Eibach lowered springs, ARB and WIM Geo. Then it had more grip than power...so went for the BBR 180, came out at 187, it's now a great balance between power and grip. Oversized go kart, but the list of upgrades is just too tempting...ITB's now available, must sell and resist... BBR very professional would highly recommend and no issues in the last year or so.

May take me a while to adapt to sitting over the rear axle now...

I still need to give the paintwork some love as it does not look as good up close as in the pictures. The previous owner didn't look after cars how I do, but Soul Red Sport Recaros seem to be hard to find so there weren't many cars to choose from. A winter job as I'm lucky enough to have a decent sized garage.

Thanks for the positive feedback on BBR; it's the Super 200 I'm considering and with the exhaust looks like it'll end up at just over 210bhp. The Mazda is a totally different driving experience to the E86. The MX-5 provides a more immediate and engaging kind of fun, but I'd rather travel longer distances in the zed.

Looks like a fabulous start to a fun car - welcome to the BBR 'just one more mod' club...Recaros super rare v nice

Very nice. The Zed must feel like a bus next to the Elise and the Mx5. :D

Sold my son's little MK2 Mx5 today. It"s been a joy to drive around in it the past 18 months.

Welcome on board.

It's different for sure! However all is forgiven for the combination of looks and an in line 6...

Hi OP, and welcome to the forum from an E86 addict!

It was the looks that first got me interested, but as you say there is something about having an N/A I6 engine too. It's also good to hear you seem to be enjoying yours despite owning some other impressive cars.

They can wander a bit at the front, especially if still fitted with run-flat tyres so that might be worth checking. Worn suspension bushes can also make them seem a bit wayward - anyway I hope you can get yours tamed.

Thanks - I'll let you know once it's been geo'd - booked in for November....no RFT and full suspension refresh so must just be geo...
