My Exhaust is blowing!

I thought the original exhaust was SS so was suprised that it has started blowing. I have just booked in for Friday at my local garage to get it on the ramps and have a look where it is blowing from.

Has anyone else had their standard exhaust blow? If so what was needed to fix?

I am thinking the noise is coming from the secondary Cats in which case I would look to replace that section and do away with the Cats.

On the plus side, there are some cracking pops and bangs on over run!

Easiest way and i am sure one of the most common is going over speed bumps a little fast and catching the exhaust on the underside?

There aren't many manufacturers that have stainless exhausts as OEM. They rott from the inside out, no doubt yours has just broken through to the outside.

It's booked in on Friday for my local garage to have a look, I jacked it up tonight and it's blowing from where the manifold angles to run to the secondary cats. Not sure if there is a join there as didn't want to get underneath without axel stands.

As for cat delete and emissions, I wonder if I'd be ok as I'm running on LPG which naturally reduces emissions

New MOT Guidelines state that if the catalytic converter was fitted at factory, its to have it at the MOT.

Then again - decat pipes can always be replaced before the MOT and refitted after :D

True, but how would they know? As far as I'm aware having 2 sets of cats isn't very common - could be wrong though

You'd be surprised how many large modern cars have. It's not difficult to tell either, you try getting an evo through an mot! It's a gamble half the time lol
