My Dirty Girl

So I'm thinking now I have less metal to clean and given that Milla is currently a very dirty girl, that I'd invest in some clean and polishing stuff 'an ting - that and witnessing the deep clean shine of Bing's lovely low roadster earlier; my MR looked like it had just finished bailing a field of wheat in comparison!

Researched a bit and decided ont he below. Question is am I correct with the position of the AG Extra Gloss Protection?

- Wash & Shampoo
- Rinse & Dry
- Wolfgang Paintwork Polish Enhancer
- AG Extra Gloss Protection
- Dodo Juice Orange Crush wax
- Stare. Drive. Park. Stare some more.

Wheel cleaner and sealant? I'm lazy when it comes to wheels so the easiest the better

See this post for a good starting point

Thanks Perry. Useful.

On the issue of claying though, this always makes my heart sink as it seems like such a huge job right? Tiny amount of clay, squirty bottle of lube but massive car.

Sorry inkey$ - if it's any consolation it's a bit dirtier now, and yours will look clean longer than mine once you've given her a good going over

Perry's link is very good - you can do lots or little, and the little goes a long way done right. The best tip I have taken off here recently for keeping it spiffy without going the whole hog every time is the use of quick detailer when drying it. I honestly didn't think it would make that much difference, but I was wrong.

Not really a huge job - but, if she's never been clayed before, the first time will probably be the most effort. You can always take it slowly and tackle the car in sections - you'll love the slick feel of freshly clayed paint 8)

There are some clays that say they're designed to use water as a lube but I prefer to have something that feels slippery and you can make up your own clay lube with a bit of car shampoo in water - I always try to use distilled water for mixing up anything as I'm in a hard water area

Well I just spent nearly £100 on cleaning products so it definitely had an affect on me :headbang: Just glad I didn't get mine out of the garage (the shame!).

Got the above list in my original post. Apparently the Dodo Juice Orange Crush is amazing on warm coloured cars so I have high hopes. When you say quick detailer when drying what do you mean exactly?

I love claying a car...

I used to clay mine once a month (while I was testing waxes)

I've now swopped the clay for the new clay cloths that are out... seems a bit dearer to start off with, but last much longer and can be washed and reused - especially if dropped, unlike clay... ;)

How do you find using the cloths? I've looked at them but never had my hands on one

love them.... you use them just like a mitt... so no chance of dropping etc...

I got both versions of the Chemical Guy ones... medium and fine.

ran round the car in a few minutes with it!

I use Meguiars Quick Detailer - see here http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/detailing-sprays/meguiars-ultimate-quik-detailer/prod_361.html

Just spray on each panel before you dry it, use a large m/f cloth to take most of the water off, then a small m/f cloth to buff dry. Helps with drying, removes water marks, and kind of refreshes/prolongs the life of wax already on the car. You can also use it between washes as long as the car is just dusty (and not too dusty) or just been lightly rained on. Wouldn't use it if the car is slathered in spray or very dirty.

On that recommendation I might try one of those. I am all for finding ways to cut down the time I spend cleaning the car :headbang: :D

Cheers, I'll probably order a fine one next time I'm getting some bits

Megs last touch is a really good quick detailer and car dryer too.... and can be diluted down to last for ages (and ages)...

this detailing nonsense costs a fortune!!

Is that better than the quick detailer ?

Inkey$ - cheaper at Halfrauds, though only by about a quid. But you won't pay delivery and IIRC there's one just down the road from you.

I really like gtechniq c2v3 -the more I use it, the more I like it - neat it's very slick and glossy, diluted at 3:1 it makes a great QD

not sure Bing... I have used the 'retail' megs products... only the bigger 'detail' range... can't see them being that different/worse though....

do you want me to see if I have any left, I could send you a sample if I do????

could throw in their window cleaner too...

Charlton. Not far and I'm guessing I'll be in there tomorrow at some point while I wait for my 'larger' order to arrive :headbang:

On sh1t. I just went and had a look at the detailer range, and my man maths kicked into overdrive - they all work out way, way cheaper than the retail product prices. Just need spray bottles. Balls. Must. Not. Buy :headbang:

If you've got any spare and its not too much hassle that would be ace cueball

Have to say that window cleaner is one thing I have not sussed yet, just hate doing it and never get it right...

The list in my first post plus grit guard bucket, job lot of micro cloths, clay and tyre dressing.
