I've only been a member on dw for a week. Been reading all the posts and gradually starting to understand it.
By far the best advice is, its all about technique. I read this a few times and I never really understood it, but now I do. Essentially, you're not going to get a product that does the work for you or one that's massively superior to the next. They're all very similar, but some work better in different scenarios (applies to any detailing product). I.e take your time, do it properly and in the right order (this is your technique). When using the da, "technique" also refers to the actual movement you undertake with the polishing pad. At least this is my interpretation.
I also found understanding the layers, what a scratch is, and how each product resolves an imperfection, really really helps. For example, most polishes are full of "fillers" that simply mask the scratch. IMO I'd opt for actual correction instead of covering up any day.
All very boring stuff to most people, including my mates, who think I'm daft spending the so much time/money on it. Even showing them the close up before an after pics is lost on them. Although, unless you have a car you want to keep in perfect condition, you wouldn't have a desire to know this stuff.
