My Daughters bought herself a Birthday Present

So as most you you who know me might also know one of my daughters Sophie.

Well she turns 20 on tuesday and after two years of driving her Fiat 500 decided to upgrade.

Today she treated herself to a 2011 E89 23i M Sport

Its in very good condition, she is only the 5th owner and its done 116k.

Spec is pretty good, Deep Sea Blue, Design Pure white Nappa Leather, Pro Navigation, Interior/Exterior Dipping & Folding Mirrors, Lumbar Support, Seat Heating, Heated Steering Wheel, HiFi Speaker System, USB/Audio Interface, Music Interface For Smartphone, PDC, Extended Lighting.

Cheaper to insure than a 2.0i, alothugh a 3.0i, 35i or 35is would have been even cheaper to insure. Costing her just over a grand for 12 months. a 35i would have been around £900.

How we all would have loved a car like that at 20 years of age. She is obviously a young lady of taste. I thought I was the bees knees with my Morris Minor in 1966. :thumbsup: :thumbsup: :thumbsup:
 
I felt pretty pleased with myself when I was 20 and bought a Rover P6B 3500S in 1979!

Manual V8 loveliness, but it was way less powerful than a 23i. :lol:

Never got the appeal of those. But then I bought a new push bike aged 20. So what do I know. :wink:

It wasn't my first choice TBF, I wanted a 3 litre Capri but couldn't afford to buy one and insure it. :(
 
That's a great car for a 20 year old. At her age, as a poor student, I had a metallic gold over mat grey Orion 1.6i Ghia. It had pepper pot alloy wheels and red bumper inserts, and I added clear indicators and spot lights. I regarded it as an XR3i that I could afford to insure parked on the street in London. In fact, it was an old banger with a particularly agricultural engine and no brakes!
At that time, a friend of mine had a Capri 2.8 injection with a cherry bomb exhaust that sounded immense but really wasn't much faster than my Orion. Another friend had a Sierra Sapphire Cosworth. It's strange now to think that such cars used to be cheap and disposable enough that they were affordable for students.

A Z4M is cheaper to insure than a 3.0 si as well, all about statistics.

Yep, fewer on the road so less accidents / stolen, had the same with my Elise, cheaper to insure an Elise R than a standard Elise, when I questioned the insurance company that was their exact response.
