My Dad's car

My Dad died 20 years ago. He was a brilliant mechanic and loved cars. (Where I get it from)

Thought you might like to see his little project.

He had a Morris 1100 and completely replaced the front end and bonnet with a Riley Kestrel. The car was completely hand painted and had an immaculate finish considering this. Here it is...

Did some miles in a morris 1300 ! (As a passenger) They even did a GT!
I loved the speedo which was a orange bar that moved from left to right the faster you went. Ahh those Hi-tech days

Yes that's it!

The wheels look lost in the arches.
He used to rock backward and forwards going uphill to make it go quicker!

Are you sure he did not have it lowered? (Hydrolastic suspension)
That was in the days when 90 hp was a racing machine!

A Morris Riley Hybrid !!!
Wow ...I bet your Dad had lots of grins watching confused motorists trying to figure out what the heck is that ?

Back in the day (1969) when I got my first well used Mini 850 from a mechanic who had a race prepped Cooper S.
His Family car was an Austin 1100 and he swapped the race engine from the S into the 1100.
Off to the Burger Joint ..Harveys in Thornhill where all the Muscle Cars hung out.
Im talking Dodge Super Bees with 440 Six Packs, Chargers and Mustangs and a Barracuda or two.
Would anyone race the sedate 1100 ? ...
Nope ...
All too afraid to be humbled ..ha ha

A true story ..

Bumpy ..
Feelin' old now ...

Magic story carol, it reminded me of my own dad, he was just the same with his cars, 90 years old when he died in 2008, best bloke in the world, miss him every day :(

Thanks Ray.

He also built a motorbike hybrid. It was a cross between an AJS and a Triumph. He called it a TriJs.
Local paper did a story about it.

Nice Pics. A real mechanic  Looks like it had head restraints of some sort which I guess was not common then.

Don't you'll start me off too.

I'll look for a pic of the bike.

He certainly was.
He made guns as well. They didn't have the firing mechanism working tho!
He made a replica colt. My brother has them in a display case.
