My cd player is skipping alot

My Cd player is skipping alot when I play music verses if I play it on a computer at home or a new car. My car is a 2003. Any way to fix it or any advice?

Is it a genuine CD, or a 'back-up'?

If it's a back-up, then try burning it again as a lower speed. Unfortunately the car's are quite stiff so little bumps are likely to cause the transport to freak out.

Do you have the MP3 option on the CD player? If so, you could just burn the same album to a MP3 CD - that way the head unit loads the whole (or reads ahead a bit) to put the track into memory which means no skipping.

Mine skips now and then when using the stacker but thats british roads the CD in the head unit is better.

You might try buying one of those cheap cd player cleaners. Although I doubt your car is old enough to need the cd player cleaned. There are also those cd resurfacer things too.

The car is going on 6 years old now. I'm the original owner but I think I might try one of those cleaners. I'm going to Google a search for it. :driving:

You should be able to pick one up at any best buy/walmart/fry's etc store that sells audio type stuff.

Copied discs jump very badly in my changer, but the headunit plays them fine. Original discs not a problem in either, but I prefer to carry copies incase someone breaks in and nicks them...

I've been intending reburning a few discs at a lower speed as suggested above but never seem to get around to doing it.
