So....it's been nearly a month since I have been carless (yes we have the Z4 and a daily but not 'mine'). I have bought a motorbike in the last few weeks which is in bits in the garage awaiting parts, but that is unimportant.
I thought I would quite like a 'modern classic' car, as I don't drive much these days and like to tinker with stuff..
I thought I would look at XJSs, Stags, etc. Well that hasn't worked, as prices are all over the shop and piles of rust are being touted for £10k plus.
So my search morphed into the Jag XK8 (even though my sister had an early XKR which was truly terrible). They are being bandied as the next 'big' modern classic, so my wallet thought they make sense.I have done a lot of reading about them and decided a later, 2002 onwards with the 4.2 engine, were OK. Then looking into them further found even later ones with low miles are utter rust buckets!
So I started looking at the later XK (X150) cars. Aluminium bodies, so rust on the surface not a problem. Parts are surprisingly cheap if you avoid JLR. So I thought an early 4.2 n/a would suit me fine. Then (me being me) thought "for a couple of grand more I could get the XKR version".
So as we stand today, I am going to look at the one in the link below next week!

I must be getting old or mental, or both!
