Well, here it is…
A full 2 years after buying our bog-standard VW T5 panel van, we collected it at the end of August from Jerba Campervans after a full camper conversion. Absolutely over the moon with it, couldn’t be happier. We’ve already taken a couple of weeks holidaying around the Scottish west coast and had a couple of weekends away at the 7 Stanes MTBing centres in the south of Scotland. Planning lots more weekends away, and next summer will be a repeat of our 3-week Euro tour
Interior:
- SCA elevating roof (with extra bed in roof)
- RIB 130cm seat/bed with 3 proper seatbelts
- VW privacy tint glass all round (with fake rearmost driver’s side)
- big fridge!
- diesel-fired blown-air heater
- 3-gas burner/sink combined unit
- individual front seats – actually the old seats from my BMW Z4 after I upgraded to heated versions in the car

- swivel plates on both seats and a safe in the base of the passenger one
- full electrics hook-up with 2 additional leisure batteries and split-charge system
- 40 litre fresh water tank
- 10” subwoofer built into custom enclosure behind driver with amp in cupboard, plus extra rear speakers
Exterior:
- Vanstyle front splitter
- front and rear bumpers plus mirror covers colour-coded
- Steelworks side bars, powdercoated black
- standard 16” steel wheels painted black lol
- H&R -40mm lowering springs
- foglights wired into full/main beam
- Atera rear 3-bike rack
- Reimo Multirail
Further plans:
- fit the 17” T32 steel wheels I already have (once I’ve bought tyres)
- build a removable platform to secure bikes for transporting inside van
- buy a sun awning (we already have a Khyam driveaway awning but a sun shade would be good for short stops)
- make some fabric skirts for around bottom of front seats to hide the metalwork
And just a few photos on location...
Enroute to Skye:
Those from the z4-forum Skye trip should recognise this location (or tree):
Sligachan campsite, Skye:
Portree, Skye - This gives an idea of just how long it is: it's 5.3m (exc bike rack) hence doesn't quite fit a normal-sized parking space:
Glen Brittle campsite, Skye:
At the top of the Beleach Na Ba pass, enroute to Applecross:
The very comfy bed (there's someone under that cover

More interior:
Z4 seats
Mossyard campsite (about 10 miles east of Newton Stewart):
Mossyard again - can't get any closer to the sea:
And just to prove the weather wasn't all spectacular, this was the usual (it was only dry/sunny for 1 day while we were up north):
