Simple solution really: give it time and "drive" it!! If it still doesn't work, sell it and go back to an E85. Or failing that just buy and M!!

Sound advise. Though worth noting it is also a completely different car, to. either the standard E85/86 or any E89.

Great advice - and if you do go back to an E85 make sure it's got a bigger engine! At least a 2.5Si or preferably a 3 litre. An M if you are feeling brave, or maybe an Alpina?

Both your cars look great BTW OP.

I've been doing a 2.5 mile commute recently ...using the E85.

One way to knacker your engine, esp the CCV system!

Why don't you walk, jog, bike such a short distance? Lazy barsteward! :poke:

Mine is going up for sale in the spring if you are interested, I think you are quite local too?

MrsG is an avid Cat lover, yet still drives, more often than walks, the 1 1\2 to work. :P

Happily not in the Zed. Plus she is on her feet much of the day.

It’s terrible for the ccv to be a cat lover :P

Worse problems to have. Give it time, you might even end up jumping back in an E85 and suddenly regret selling the E89

Was selling my 2.2 SE e85 and trading up to a 30i e89 :(

It was with the best of intentions that I sold my little zed and bought a fancy newer model instead but after a few weeks ownership i can't say it was a good move.

In comparison the e89 is soulless, has no character and is just a bit boring really. If I had the option to get my old car back I totally would.

My advice - don't do it!

I suppose we are all different Greg.
A lot of it comes down to what you want from the car.
if like me, its a weekend toy, practicality is not that important, but it has to make you smile when you drive it.
The thing that always confirms I have made the right choice is, do I always look back at it whenever I park it.
obviously peoples opinions of it help make you feel good.
All my neighbours at work comment that it looks more aggressive than the 85 I had before.
so looks wise I'm happy.
comfort wise its better, no arguments.
almost certainly the m sport seats.
performance wise, its obviously better, as have gone from 177hp to 260hp app.
Also having gone from auto, which I did enjoy, manual has made it more involving.
the big draw for me was the folding hard top making it two cars in one.
when the roof is up, its a coupe, and when its down, it has the same benefits as the 85.
the 85 roof was always a pain to keep looking clean as it lived on my drive, and yes was always cleaned and protected, but annoyed the hell out of me in the winter as it collected grime and green marks.
the 89 may not have the chuck about driveability of the 85, but for me it is a step in the direction I wanted to go.
I don't have any regrets, nor can I think of any negatives, regarding areas that I miss from the 85.
both fun cars, but the 89 was a positive step for me.
hope you grow to love it as much as I love mine :D

That takes me back.
Knee down action at the local roundabout, until someone called the police complaining we had taken over the roundabout and they couldn’t get on to it.

Or perhaps if you want a hooligans wheelie machine, one of these.43574F88-90AB-46AF-AB7E-BF2625922A07.jpeg

Or one of these :P

Cycling in the dark and wet, I cant be arsed with that and besides its a busy road commute and the last half miles around an industrial estate. Those truck drivers would have me as road kill with in a week!

I sort of felt the same going from a Z3 to a Z4 You had to rag the Z3 to get the best from it.
The Z4 seems to do the same without the need to rag it, Far more refined than the Z3 is/was so i can imagine how the E89 feels.
The way i,d sum it up the Z3 is an older roadster where as the Z4 more of a sports tourer The e89 no idea not driven one
