My biggest mistake rectified or am I nuts !!!

 Here & there
Well back in September 2011 a job offer overseas came up and as I didn't want to put my beautiful zed in storage for an age decided, against all my emotions, to sell it. Even though it had some issues originally it always gave me a huge grin and made me smile when driving it. Anyway, Ebay ad composed and within a week it was gone. Boo hoo. Not a week has gone by when I didn't think what a t*at I had been and should have hung on to it and mothballed it (to the point of sheer annoyance to my wife and kids whenever I see a Z4 and exclaim 'look a zed should never have sold mine' nigh on a daily occurance recently) especially now I am back looking after a new UK project !!

Latterly have made a load of calls to several BMW dealerships and when details of my previous zed called up a sucking of teeth from salesman and 'ohh nope sorry nothing of that spec around and doubt if you will find one, only way is new build sir'. Tail between my legs and mega mega sulk with more self name calling.

A twist, three weeks ago whilst browsing Ebay what do I see ? An Alpine White Sdrive 35i with Ivory White extended leather with massive spec and only 2270 more miles on the clock than when I sold mine and up for sale by...........the guy I sold mine to as their having another baby (thank God for horizontal excersise !!) and the Z4 is not practical. Can you guess what happened and where that car is now ?

On my drive. :D :D   :D

My smile well its from behind my left ear right around to behind my right ear. Now my mistake has been rectified but am I nuts to buy it back ??? Nah I don't think so either !!

What a great story, you did the right thing!

I did the same many years ago with my 240Z, although I didn't have to track it down as I had sold it to my mate!

Welcome back - not a stupid decision at all

And with less than 3,000 miles on it, turns out it was like putting it in storage with someone who cared, right ?

This made me laugh - I spent 3 years doing similar, telling my son and my wife that "I really, really miss my Z4" every time I saw one. Weird how they do that to you

Cheers guys, for the welcome back. Yep car had been very well cared for and exactly the same vehicle as when I said goodbye but with a few more miles.

Too right about the weather, how bad is it and nearly at the longest day !!

Just need to get all my settings back and remember the various functions and features. How quickly do you forget !

Gorgeous car mate, I love my dad's E89 in white.

I almost bought back my last car, similar story to yours. Very carefully looked after by its new owner, only a few thousand extra kms on the clock, recently serviced and 15% less than what I sold it for.

I bought a Z4 instead
