We've had a few white winters here over the ast 10 years and the difference in using winter tyres is like chalk and cheese in a rearwheel drive car!
But i'll also be using the zed to visit clients who are located in germany, poland, switzerland and norway. they also have quite strict rules about driving with winter tyres in winter :wink:

I know what you mean about some bad winters, back when my Boxster was my daily it never left the drive for over a month in 09/10 due to the snow/ice. I was relegated to the father in laws non turbo diesel Citreon Berlingo for over a month. Got back in mine and it felt like a rocket ship!

I was always sceptical of the benefits until i got my first set. Was astounded at the difference in traction, particularly in packed snow. Just phenomenal. But theres def still a learning curve when pushing on. I'll never take bends or turns at the same speed as non winters- thats when they can really let go as no winter tyre in the world can counteract inertia on snow. :wink:

This will be a welcome distraction to all the Christmas shenanigans for some, for others it's an opportunity to get angry and defensive, or to complain about the unfair bias in the sample data (more roadsters than coupes - boo hoo)

Only the front of the E89 is a Z, the back is a Mondeo :?
 
I predict that this is the year when mud flaps, whippy aerials and gimp-style wind deflectors will sweep the board! :P
 
If you think winter tyres grip well on packed snow then you would be amazed by studded tyres ! I spent my formative years in Linkoping, Sweden and go back 'visiting' regularly and usually rent or borrow a car whilst I am there. When the police deem it necessary anytime between October and April then you MUST fit studded tyres known there as 'dubbdack'. Everyone has a spare set of wheels already shod with studs. The grip on hard packed snow/ice is just phenomenal. You really have to try hard to break traction. :evil: It takes a bit of getting used to because all your senses are telling you that you will skid or slide. Instead you can drive almost normally and in a straight line like on the motorway you almost forget what your driving on. :driving:

Yeah theyre also v popular in norway. Have been quite envious of those with studs whizzing past me while i was gingerly plodding on with my normal wintertyres.

Once that roof has rusted away and you've lost some of the weight, I'm sure your will be much easier to push. :P

I'm afraid there won't be a specific category that covers your . . . erm . . . predilections, your car will fall under either the 'E85 roof up' or 'E85 roof down' options :wink:
