My AM radio isn't as clear as it was

I had the dealership fix a door and front end paint job on my car. When I got it back my AM radio is all staticky and I can't really hear it like I use to before. It's not the radio stations because they worked great before so something happened when they worked on my car. When I got my car back all the stations were still programed but the clock in the car had to be reset. What do you think is the problem?

Took it to the dealership and they said it was the antenna amplifier and it cost $700 parts and labor. Since I don't have the time they're doing it. Plus I can make more money at work rather than working on my car. :D

Isn't AM and FM the external aerial, and the FM an internal one.

That leads me to think it's not the antenna amp as that would effect all signals, but I'd think the external aerial to amp connection is maybe worth looking at!?

AFAIK the external aerial is just for AM, and the internal one is just for FM.

I have terrible AM reception too, I've ordered the stubby aerial from ebay and will have a look at why the reception is so bad when it arrives :)

I fitted my Stubby Aerial this afternoon and the AM reception is perfect now (as perfect as i gets anyways). My issue must have been either a bad contact between the aerial and the car, or the old aerial itself.

No guys - we've been down this path before and the Z4 is capable of switching between aerials due to certain circumstances and condition.

I won't be boring and find the technical stuff as it's already on here somewhere
