My alarm keeps going off for no reason???

As Andy says - bonnet sensor.

Replace it and all will be fine. To check you can simply disconnect it and see if the false alarms cease.

You'll find it wher the 2 strut braces meet at the rear of the engine bay.

I will raise that to 99.99% as it is the most common alarm fault of BMWs.

Only someone in IT familiar with SLA's on system availability and uptime would make that comment :)

is it something that is random? Mine has started going off after locking the car, but if I go back, turn it off and on again it usually doesn't go off. It got me thinking its the drivers door, but more likely the bonnet?

Ok, so whats the 0.01% of the time?

I've disconected and removed the bonnet sensor and the alarm still goes off, probably about 4-5 times a day, and i say day as it only does it in hot weather!? :headbang:

Dog in the boot?

Seriously tho, my 350z alarm used to do this in hot weather, and I ended up having to have the ultrasonic detectors replaced, as they were too sensitive.

I'm not sure if BMW can alter the sensitivity of them in the Zed?

hahaha, yeah, don't think the dog likes being left in the boot tbh, so that could be it :P

Where are the ultra sonics? are they located under the 'grill' bit next to the interior light?

if your car is equipped with the interior motion sensor, that could go wrong as well. you can disable it via car/key programming
