Economy-what I expected after driving an OPC's long term loan 997S last year

From cold 9.8mpg for the first 8-10 miles, (OBC) then 22mpg when all the fluids are warm, all driving is on rural roads with no town use and driving like Miss Daisy/ish.
Odd times I only drive 5 miles (from cold) to my destination so the consumption can be 8mpg

This is nothing like what Porsche claim, however I'm sure on a motorway at say 60mph it would do about 27mpg

The thing is the stop-start facility doesn't activate until the engine is warm i.e. after 10 miles, there is also the free-wheeling facility which does activate when the engine is cold and saves fuel.
When you take your foot off the accelerator the revs drop to idle and there is no engine braking however if you apply the brakes the revs rise to normal to provide engine braking-all cleaver stuff?

I've only driven 570 miles in the car since March 1st and have to run it in until 1800m and after that I may get another 1-2 mpg, although I won't hold my breath.

As a side issue, I have the sports exhaust fitted (which is switchable) and was initially a little disappointed that is was not very loud when I was sat in the car, however I was told by my dealer to stand outside next to the car and rev it up...eerr yes it's loud!!!! it's just nice and cosy in the cabin thank goodness.

Happy motoring all :)

Mmmm, that economy doesn't sound great......my 997 TT Cab was averaging 21-22mpg over 12K miles - given the improvements between models I would hope yours would improve to upper 20's overall after it's properly run in.....oh and I now recognise you from 911UK too :)

Economy doesnt sound too bad. I would be more than happy with anything over 20mpg for a "fun" car....

I think after your 1,800 miles your mpg will probably deteriorate given that you'll be able to use the loud pedal to it's full potential

Glad you are enjoying it - happy motoring backatcha
