My 28i Stutters in Sports Mode

Hi Guys,
While awaiting for my diagnositic scanner to arrive was wondering if anyone experienced such issues before.
Drives well in comfort mode but the minute I go into Sport Mode it stutters at around 1800-2000 rpm.
The worse experience I had was a couple of days back when I tried it again, stuttered & engine check light came on
& I was limping home on what sounds like 3 cylinders. Switch off engine lets it rest for a couple of minutes restarted
check light gone all was back to normal, car has only done 48,000 km. Have already ordered new plugs & coils but
somehow I feel that its something else that's causing this, your thoughts pls Gents.

Do you have iDrive if so did it give you any written commentary?

You really need the fault code reader..doubt it’s a variable valve timing issue...

I’d hazard a guess at a boost/sensor/leak issue but this is one that needs a code reader...

You had some oversize wheels and tyres ?

What sizes are they?
 
Hi Guys,
VVT issues sounds scary, nope still on 18 inch 255 rears. When car was in limp mode the check light showed a outline of engine with
half of it fully lit. Yes ID wrote something like to drive slowly & to bring car to workshop or something too worried to recall while driving.
Guess will await for code reader to arrive.
