Hi everyone.

For sale is my BMW Z4 23i. I have cherished this car for the past 10 months and am only selling as a deal I couldn't refuse came up for a dream car of mine (Z4 E89 35iS). As you will be able to see from the time put into looking after this car, I wasn't planning on selling it.

The car is a 2009 Z4 finished in metallic Havana grey/brown (in the light) with a white leather interior. This 23i houses BMW's N52 engine, known for its reliability and has only covered 77000 miles since new. In the time I have had this car, it has been faultless, with full service history and spark plugs changed only 200 miles ago, the car runs as it should. A major service was conducted just after I purchased the car, by Noel Butler over at NCB Autokraft. The car was checked over, all filters were replaced, new oil was supplied and the gearbox oil was changed. I recently had a powerflow exhaust fitted to the car, providing some more acoustics and a sporty note fitting for this beautiful naturally aspirated 6 cylinder engine and backed with a lifetime warranty.

The roof functions faultlessly without stutters or stops and has always been operated when the car was standing still to avoid excess stress on the roof folding mechanism.

Inside the white leather sports seats are in an overall good condition, with some wear to the drivers side bolster - something common in leather BMW seats, the passenger seat is faultless. All electrical switched work as they should, the air conditioning is cold and the cabin is a fantastic place to be. I have put a bluetooth receiver into the auxiliary socket in the armrest and will be including that with the purchase so the new owner can listen to music and take calls over bluetooth.

The MOT was initially failed on Saturday due to emissions, I think I needed to get the car warmed up. Re-MOT’d yesterday after a good drive and it passed with no advisories. MOT until 1st June 2022.

Overall, this is a fantastic car and one I was not planning on parting with for some time, I am confident the new owner will be thrilled with their purchase. In summery: the car comes with a service book full of stamps, lots of documentation, the original quick start guides, BMW leather wallet, 2 keys, a fresh MOT, and a grinning new owner 30 minutes post sale!

I have this car at £7,800 on autotrader but would rather it went to one of you lot on here, hence the £7,600 price on the forums.

Any questions or further information, please give me a call, I'd be happy to have a chat. Here is a link to my autotrader advert with some more photos (Mod', please let me know if this is not allowed and I will remove): https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202105052251650?model=Z4&radius=1500&onesearchad=New&onesearchad=Nearly%20New&onesearchad=Used&make=BMW&aggregatedTrim=23i&sort=price-asc&advertising-location=at_cars&include-delivery-option=on&postcode=cv230gz&page=1

*The private registration will be removed before sale and will be replaced with the original plates: BG09 UBA*

looks a good buy..got the right interior, decent set of wheels and a quad conversion..very nice, lots of fans of havana brown here too although its not to my taste..all in though looks a good buy at a sensible price for prospective 23i owners..glwts

Thanks, I appreciate that! Even though the new Zed is coming, I’m a little gutted to be selling, the new owner will be really pleased for sure

So the car failed the MOT based on emissions on Saturday. Turns out I probably should have let the car warm up (took it just down the road). Re MOT-d it yesterday and passed with no advisories, amazing what a long drive can do!

I have also reduced the price of the car, picking up the 35is tonight and would rather not have both sitting around for too long!

Hi and welcome to the forum Seb.

Your 23i looks great so GLWTS.

And as you are getting a 35is you won't be leaving the forum - just post some photos once you have it!

Thanks everyone!

Still no interest in the car, am I overpricing?

Picked up the 35iS yesterday - as much as I would love to keep both, I don’t have the drive space.

I’m open to offers at this point as need to get the space on the drive back!

I think you’re pretty much on the money with the pricing, if not a little light given the quad conversion and wheels but for a quicker sale

But, even though I’ve said I love the colour, many don’t particularly like it and I think it’ll take someone who’s looking for specifically that colour to come along to buy it.

Is it advertised anywhere else like gumtree etc? You’re possibly more likely to attract local buyers to come along and have a speculative look and get a sale that way once they’re standing in front of it and see how nice it is.

Hope you enjoy the 35iS

That’s really helpful information thanks. I will get it up on Gumtree and Facebook this evening.

Do you happen to know whether these are BMW alloys or aftermarket ones off the top of your head? I have never been able to find these exact style but they seem to have the BMW logo in the middle of the wheels. Cant see any stamps or marks on the alloys but guessing I’d probably need to take the alloys off to confirm. I have someone asking the question and don’t want to give them wrong info!

That is no way over priced, seems quite sensible but the colour is a marmite colour, I don't mind it but as Andy has said it may not be everyones taste.

Roadster 2 has just sold his to a BMW specialist - maybe ask him for details and see if they are interested / what they offer.

Have you tried WBAC

Worth a try, also eBay as a classified

Re the wheels, they’re not ones I personally recognise as BMW OE, where you say it has BMW stamped on the face does it have a part number something like the example image attached?. Even a lot of original wheels will have this information inside the wheel rather than on the face. That would identify. If not you will have to take a wheel off and see what information is on the back if the, bearing in mind if they’re a staggered set the fronts and rears will carry slightly different information like part number/offset/width etc

WBAC offering 5,200 so think I will give that a skip!

That’s really useful thank you. Based on that and it was pointed out to me that these are a square setup. I think these are probably aftermarket. Only numbers I have are the offsets and width on the alloy. no part numbers at all or a BMW marking/sticker

If they are aftermarket, not necessarily a bad thing as many OE wheels are famous for cracking as we all know (another potential selling point).

BTW your car looks great in the pictures. I've not seen a quad exhaust before that looks right, until now :)

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/174660064910?hash=item28aa8d168e:g:xX8AAOSwea5gg~A4 - similar car with 48k miles, makes your asking price a bargain

Sold it today to a lovely gentleman not too far from me. Really happy it went to someone who will cherish it like I can.

Thanks everyone for your help and support!

Now the fun with the 35is begins!
