Built in June 2008, probably delivered to the dealer September 2008 and registered by them in mid-December - probably so they still got their dealer bonus. That's my theory anyway.

BUT no-one buying sports cars like this straight after the financial crash, and the E89 came out in spring 2009. So I got a hefty discount and ended up with a car that would normally have been beyond me!

That's a great spec, but then pre-reg cars usually seem to come with some good options fitted.

I think Mr Tidy is spot-on about pre-registered cars.

Driving away from the Knights in my MX5, I started adding up everything it had. It was way better than I'd have expected for the price I paid. In fact, the previous week I nearly bought a 2.5 Sport. I said I'd have it, but the Sales Manager had already sold it and not told the guy I took the test drive with. It was a non Si (so only 177bhp) with 6000 miles on the clock, not as many toys, and for only £1,500 less!

Some deals are meant to be, which is perhaps why I've hung on to it....
