Good evening everyone!

I hope you all had a great weekend out in your Z’s! The weather has been fantastic and I certainly had some serious fun in the sunshine :D

I’ve started this topic to record all the mods and work that I do to my Z4. My plan is to list out every mod and include a full set of intructions including pictures of how I completed them aswell as listing all the parts I use and where I got them from.

This post is going to record my Journey with my beautiful Z4!! I hope to gain knowledge from others and hopefully some people can learn from me :D

Can't beat a whippy, don't forget to insure your zed for a greater value

Great looking zed!
First yhing I'd advise would be to make sure it's mechanically tip top before spending on any mods.
Have you made sure there's no underlying mech issues to sort/prevent?

Ignore buzy. Whippys are for conservative old men  stubbys are the way to go. :fuelfire:

If I had ur z the first thing I would do is go for an all black grill for a more modern look.
I conducted a poll here not so long ago where all black was considered the best choice. Cheap and cheerful mod

Mod 1 - Stubby Areial

The first mod I done was the most controversial one on the whole forum...

I got rid of the whipy and got a stubby aerial - as yet I have no idea which I prefer but I’m going for the Stubby for now! If I’m honest I think they both look good and the difference to the overall look of the car is minimal

Well you've started off with a controversial one!

Ignore Chris_D - whippy is the right answer. That's how BMW made them!

Am very biased, being my 2nd favourite colour...

You have a fantastic life journey ahead, only downside will be you’ll be poorer for it, much poorer...

Stubby was one of my first mods.... £6 from eBay

Looking forward to seeing how this develops

What mods do you have in mind?

So much drama around the whippy/stubby debate!

Dare I say it, Personally I’m leaning towards the stubby - I think gives a more modern look to the car, but I guess that depends on what look your going for... But the real difference is it makes the car approximately 0.00001% more aerodynamic

I still can't decide whether the whippy/stubby debate is a big forum in-joke that started before i joined....

Because without question, stubby is obviously better.

:P

Welcome OP! Looking forward to watching your journey with your Z

Normal black stubby yes, but that’s a no no.

Mod 2 - Headlight Refurb

Yellow headlights are not pretty and they are definitely not cool... so I dediced to get a headlight refurb kit from Amazon and sort them out!!

Really simple, cheap process that took me about an hour and really gives the front end of the car a big refresh!

The kit I got came with some circular sandpaper and a foam polisher that has Velcro on the back and a attachement for a drill, which saves you some time and effort (however I did do some sanding by hand just to make sure I got everywhere on the headlight). You simply wet sand the headlights from 800grit down to 2000grit, rinse them off with water, then apply the polishing compound and switch to the foam polishers for 5-10 mins. The kit comes with some UV proection stuff which I have also applied but no idea how good that is yet.., only time will tell. Overall I’m really pleased with the result and my headlights almost look new again :D

School yard baiting... to see who bites, bit like Roadster vs Coupe

Your journey has been delayed. Did you forget your keys? Why don't you whip back for them, but watch you don't stub your toe.
