If there isn't already a how to guide, I would suggest this thread is moved to the 'How to' section.

Great write up and pics

I have been getting messages on which bumper I got for the front, and cost for paint and body shop, etc...

So is the stock front bumper for 07, with the long center grid at the bottom and the rectangular fog lights.

They are charging me $500.00 for the front, rear and tailight frames, including installation; they are doing colour match, not just going with the standard colour.

This is how the car will look after I'm done with the bumpers and tailights...except Titanium Silver Metallic:

Where have you sourced the cable/software for the remote roof control? How much was it?

Here is the link to the auction I won on eBay, the seller was recommended from someone that has done the coding for the Z4 before:

I just took a few pictures of the Z4 after getting it clean...the car should look quite different in 1 to 2 weeks....

Great work on this, love the clear side indicators.

How do you intend to fix the internal opening handle??? I'm in the same boat.

Ah ok

I thought you may be painting/coating. I'll have to look into the cost of some new ones.

I'm tempted to give it a go, but I'll see how much BMW want for new ones first...

Just sat and read through the whole project, really clearly noted and great to read. You're certainly committed to tidying the car up!

I have another question I'm afraid (sorry to be a pain), where did you get details on how to do the whole iPod thing? I haven't seen a definitive guide/what to buy etc...

I really want to get one installed ASAP and yours looks perfect.

Oh, lastly, did the cable work to code the key etc?

I will be redoing the iPod in a couple of weeks, to tidy up the cabling and install, and I will put together a guide then.... But it was pretty straight forward...the pain was getting to the right cables in the trunk...

And the model I used works better than all the dice modules or having to do the intravee...I get the track displayed in my business cd unit, I have full control of playlists, etc... you can set the PINs so that it doesnt lock and you could actually stream Pandora, etc...and it also has the option through the RCA cables to plug in another external MUsic or Sound unit... I have played with my Blackberry Playbook on that!!

I just got the cable and the dvds with the software...just finished installing all of the different pieces and will try tomorrwo eveing to start playing with it...I have not found yet a good set of instructions on how to use the software... you see some posts with commands to do the taillights update...but not real guide... If anyone has them please will appreciate a little bit of guidence...I will do screen captures as I do mine and will post here to contribute more to the forum and for everyone else that is thinking of doing this.

Cheers!!!

Excellent, I must confess I haven't actually looked where the CD changer is, I thought it was in the little centre console just behind the hand brake?

What kit did you buy to do the install? (link?) I look forward to the guide, keep up the good work, very nice upgrades!

If you have a cd changer that's where it would be...I didn't have one, so the cables were hidden under the trunk cover....and there where quite a few of them....in very tough spots to get to...and I'm fat so had to use my SO hands to get to them...LOL!!

I'm not sure of the connectors on the ipod to BMW interface device, but I'm pretty sure you'll need to know if you have DSP in your car.

I'd recommend pulling up the rear firewall carpet in the boot to check.

follow this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EHIfb0CW7cE

Standard stereo systems come with the 3pin & 6pin cables, whereas the higher end stereos (10 speaker logic 7/carver) have the DSP - single cable & 3pin.

Look at the back of your CD changer and it'll be instantly recognisable what setup you have. You'll then know what ipod interface will work for your car.

I will attempt to start coding tonight:

I also ordered the Coding software and cable to programme the following:

  • AutoLock doors at 5kph
  • Top UP and Down from Remote
  • Auto UP for passenger Window
  • Quick flash directional blinkers
  • Blinking light/beep on lock and unlock
  • Reprogramme LCU for Facelift Taillights

Hopefully everything goes right...
